Crochet Bear Beanie (6-12 months)
Yarn : medium weight #4 (you only need about 3.5 oz / 100 grams of yarn)
Hook : 5.00mm / US H
Measurement : 17 inches / 43 cm circumference (un-stretch)
6.5 inches / 16.5 cm height

Make magic loop / loose knot
Round 1 : chain 2, make 12 dc in the loop. Slip sts. Close the hole in center by pulling the yarn tail
Round 2 : chain 2, 2 dc in every sts. Slip sts (24 sts)
Round 3 : chain 2, * 2 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 8x. Slip sts (32 sts)
Round 4 : chain 2, * 3 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 8x. Slip sts (40 sts)
Round 5 : chain 2, * 4 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 8x. Slip sts (48 sts)
Round 6 : chain 2, * 11 dc, 2 dc in next sts *, repeat * to * 4x. Slip sts (52 sts)
Round 7-10 : chain 2, 52 dc. Slip sts
Round 11 : chain 1, 52 hdc. Slip sts
Round 12 & 13 : chain 1, 52 hdc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop). Slip sts
Round 14 : chain 1, 52 sc (crochet all sts in 3rd loop). Slip sts
Chain 1 & cut yarn (just enough to weave in end)
Ear (make 2)

Make magic loop
Round 1 (ear): chain 1, 10 hdc. Slip sts. Close the hole in center by pulling the yarn tail
Round 2 (ear): chain 1, 2 hdc in every sets. Slip sts (20 sts)
Round 3 (ear): chain 1, 20 sc. slip sts
Chain 1 & cut yarn. Cut enough yarn to sew it to the beanie.
Sew the ear at round 3 & 4

i did adult size. the amount of round one will change the size. like 12 dc is for kid size, but 24 dc or else will be adult size. im using 16ply acrylic cotton yarn so it need only 18 dc

This pattern is lovely and it helped me to make some cute gifts for a babyshower. I have a request if possible please. I have never seen anyone do the magic ring like you do. It is the easiest method I have ever seen and I've able to make a magic ring (following the video) every time. Usually I really struggle. This is so helpful, I only found an 8 ply yarn (dont get 10 ply yarn suitable for babies where I live) and when I followed this pattern the beanie seems more curvy. More like a cup. What can I do to decrease the curvature?

I had the same issue with this pattern size. It was a bit short for my 9mth old. I resolved the problem by doing 2 more rounds of round 12 and 13. Then finished (round 14 stitches) according to the video. So my beanie had 16 rounds!

The beanie turned out to be WAY to big for my 1 year old cousin, Carter. I didn't want to undo all the yarn, so halfway through, I changed the color, (because I ran out of the color I was using) and made a giant stuffed play crochet ball for him.
