Hi Ashleigh, I love your tutorials, but I would love them even more if you would use light colored yarn for your videos. It's much easier to see the stitches, especially when you're doing these cables. I love the color Fig that you used, but it would make it easier to see if you would use a lighter color. Thanks for the suggestion! The trouble I run into with lighter colored yarns is that they reflect the light. Especially on a light background, it can get lost. Sigh. I'm still trying to find the perfect color that is easy to see and doesn't reflect light and look washed out!

I hadn't thought about light reflection. You don't have to go much lighter on the color - it's just the real dark colors that make it difficult to see the stitches. I still loved it and got the hang of it really fast. Thanks for your video.

Use a light taupe, dark cream, light blue, or some other light to mid tone hue. I agree, it would have been easier to see the stitches with a lighter color yarn.

Thank you for this video! I found it easy to follow regardless of dark yarn. I paused in between each step and used safety pins for stitch markers indicating the skipped stitches until I became comfortable with pattern. After repeating rows 2-5 three times I was fine.

#SojoudHussien I don't think they're being negative (except one was rude and mean) I think they are just letting her know it's hard to see the stitches with the dark yarn and they were offering her suggestions in a nice way. They stated that they love her channel and her work.**Also, just wanted to point out that not everyone is as fast as you. Since this is an instructional video, most ppl watching are doing so to learn and if they feel she is going too fast for them to learn, they are just letting her know that. **My tip, rather than trying to keep backing up the video, there is an option under the settings of each video that when you tap/click on it, it shows you a 'speed' option. Just set it to a slower speed and you will be able to watch in slow motion so you don't have to keep trying to rewind to a certain part of the video. I love the slow motion option (there are 2 or 3 speeds to pick from and also options to set it at fast speeds if the instructor is going to slow) This is a great tool to use and I wish more instructors would tell their students about this feature. So much better than having to go back and try to find the exact spot you need.

Thank you for this super tutorial. I am a beginner at crocheting, and found your tutorial challenging, but easy to follow. I had to review a few times, pausing to get my stitches caught up to yours, but I actually did it! I actually made cables! Beautiful work. Thank you for sharing! I must add a little note. Row2 when working on the skipped sts of the megabraid, the written instructions on the website says "Long FpDc into the top of the sts" which contradicts the videos instructions where you clearly state to work a Dc on the top *but no Fp*. I will consider the video instructions to be the final word of course, the braids are awesome.

Love this thank you for being thorough. I’m working on a crazy modification for a big blanket I’ll show you once I’m done. I learned cables as like one of the first things I ever did after learning how to crochet cuz I wanted a scarf like this. So I found this vid, buckled down, & learned what I didn’t even know was one of the most complicated patterns 😂 now I’m making it even more complicated. Ik for a fact I’m using thinner yarn but it’s soft & fluffy so it takes up space but in the future I def wanna avoid how many holes end up being visible with this thinner yarn so I was wondering what weight (idk if that’s the proper term lol) you used & what size hook? Mine says 4 & says to use 6.5 hook but I’m using a 4.5 to get those holes smaller & make it more uniform

She is using extended double croshet, which I believe is very slightly shorter than a treble croshet. Extended just adds a single extra loop to a regular double croshet. A treble would be adding 2 extra loops. Hope that helps. ;) You could likley do the whole pattern with treble instead, but I think it might make the sample slightly taller at the end, but possibly there would not be too much difference.

I want to make some boot cuff leg warmers with cable crochet but for all the tutorials I see this stitch is done in flats rows. To widen the blanket you use any multiple of 24 (not 27) plus 3. The plus three is for your turning stich. To double it it would be 48 + 3 = 51

Hi, Ashleigh! I loved your tutorial and am going to work on a practice square before tackling a blanket. Is this expanded in multiples of 24 + 3? Also, at the end of each row, directions state chain 3, but it looks like you chain 2 in the tutorial. Am I missing something? This is a really nice cable pattern and you are a great teacher, but like others have said the yarn is too dark for the detailed stitching. You said you are having a hard time figuring out colors and lighting. Check out The Crochet Crowd "How to Crochet a Cable Blanket" he has a totally white background and is using taupe yarn. The yarn doesn't look washed out and the white background isn't glaring. Thank you for your hard work making this video for us. I hope you get the yarn color figured out...your patterns are wonderful!

As a professional , you certainly know that dark colors are far more difficult to see the stitches than if you used a lighter color. You explain things well, but because you used that dark coir I’ve given you a this down.
