Well. It's truly beautiful and I'm sure my husband would have LOVED this, but try as I might I just can't figure it out. You move WAY too fast and I keep backing up the video and trying to watch, and back up and watch and back up and watch. Sorry, but this is just WAY too difficult to follow - and I've been crocheting for 40+ years and very familiar with every stitch you are doing. The problem is, it seems like you are skipping over a lot of stitches (or I was) and the scarf just gets narrower and narrower. Again, this is a very gorgeous pattern, but the tutorial is just too tough to follow due to how fast you are going and the dark yarn on a dark background. I very much appreciate the time you took to do this, and hope there are many out there that can replicate this! It just won't be me. 😢

Amy Davis you can change the speed of this video by clicking on the gear shaped icon in the lower right of the screen. You will need to stop the video to do this. Select a slower playback speed and then you are good to go. If using a cell phone click the 3 vertical dots in the upper right of the screen.

Yes, it's difficult and frustrating to see that your partial results are not equal as her's, but if you try to understand the logic behind, you will be able to nail it. I've been watching the video and trying to do it over and over again for a whole day and I realized that I wasn't following the logic, and that helped me to understand what she was doing. Now, after a day of trying, I could finally finish my 12th row. My problem was that I was only trying to copy exactly what she was doing (I had to put it in 0.25x in some parts), but as you said, sometimes you can't see exactly where she is placing the hook, so I had to guess. The thing is that you need to guess with some kind of logic. Another thing that happened to me was that I was carrying errors from other rows, so you also have to be careful with that. You also have to guess where could you have gone wrong.

The background is dark, the yarn is dark, & you keep covering up the stitches you’ve just completed as you pull more working yarn. I simply cannot understand Row 9. I‘ve played it at slower speed, & replayed it COUNTLESS times, with no luck. I cannot get the second crossover in row 9 to work, no matter what I do. Its a lot easier to think this through as crocheting 10 rows then repeat rows 7 , 8, 9, 10. The way you do it, saying "row eleven is actually a repeat of row 7, then you do "row 12, is actually a repeat of row 8." Then you say " row 13 and forward repeat rows 9 through 12." Thats confusing to me. because of the repeating repeats. Also, your tag line says something about doing row 9 and 10 once again before starting the ribbing, but you didn't mention it. so folks, be ready for your ribbing to start in the wrong place if you are crocheting and not reading the words at the bottom.

This has to be one of the most beautiful patterns with the most horribly done tutorial (and the written pattern is even more confusing). You can add multiples of 6 for each set of Wattle Stitches you wish to add to each side of the Wheat Cable (1 additional on each side, if that makes sense).

For Row Eight, 2nd set of treble crochets. Spent two days trying to figure out the 'back door treble crochet'. To help others, grab only the TOP STITCH from the previous (double front post) row.

Could I make this with 100% acrylic yarn? Would there be much difference?

You should be fine Caroline. Just be sure to choose the hook size you need that gives you the fabric you desire for the scarf.

So pretty. I’ve been crocheting for years and found this really fast paced, hard to see, and difficult to follow ): I’m getting so frustrated

You can slow down this video (and any video on KZbin) by clicking on the gear shaped icon in the lower right. Then select the playback speed. On a cell phone, it is the 3 vertical dots in the upper right hand corner. I hope this is helpful to you.

Oh my God! It's amazing! But seems too difficult to me. I will try, but I don't believe that I will succeed ☹️

the half doubles between the cables when you are crossing don't come out symmetrical if i follow your instructions, one is pulled towards the middle and the other towards the sides

Hello! I love your patterns, but I don't know how to cable yet. I am a confident beginner/ intermediate crocheter. Would this be a good pattern for me to learn to cable?
@BonnieBayCrochet

I wouldn't hesitate to give it a try Michelle. Perhaps try with some yarn in your stash to minimize the initial investment and to see what you think. (If you need to slow down the video just hit the gear icon in the lower right of the screen.)

Hi! I'm leftie and I've never done cable before. Do I need to do the cable's inverted since I start from the left rather than right? For instance when you first do start the cable cross you go: skip 3, hdc, FPTC 3x, then go through *back* and do the 3 skipped for FPTC 3x. But for me is it: skip 3, hdc, FPTC 3x, go through *front* and do the 3 skipped for FPTC 3x? So what I am getting at is: am I doing everything your doing only inverted?

This may be more helpful: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGSpqGCcbJukecU. I try to post left-handed versions of everything I do. If it doesn’t pop up in your feed, you can always search for it. Simply add “left-handed” to the title of the video.
