I am so glad that I didn't write my comment after the first try with this pattern. The body was easy, but the head confused me a bit. I was so frustrated and tired of starting over. To be honest, there are parts of this video that aren't all that easy to follow unless you slow the speed down. I thought this was a cute potholder though, so I decided to try again and take very detailed step by step notes. I noticed that a few people asked about the number of stitches per round, and I was wondering too. Since that question was not answered, I did the math myself. It makes things easier (especially for beginners) in a project like this to know how many stitches are needed per round. Here is what I got: Round 1 (in the magic circle) 8 hdc Round 2- 16 stitches (all are 2 hdc, so that should make it easy to stay on target) Round 3- 24 stitches (when you get to the 2-hdc stitches, each should end on a multiple of 3 in order to stay on target) Round 4- 32 stitches (2-hdc all end on a multiple of 4) Round 5- 40 stitches (2-hdc all end on a multiple of 5) Round 6- 48 stitches (2 hdc all end on a multiple of 6) Round 7- 56 stitches (2 hdc all end on a multiple of 7) Round 8- 64 stitches (2 hdc all end on a multiple of 8) Round 9- 72 stitches (2-hdc all end on a multiple of 9) Round 10- 81 sc stitches Round 11- 91 sc stitches, I also saw people asking which stitch to start a round in. That wasn't answered either, so I slowed down the video. It looks like a round is started in the stitch directly next to the "sl st - ch 2" stitch. This way you aren't skipping any stitches and the numbers that I came up with work out. I hope this helps.

now if we could get a count on the head part that would be helpful. mine looks lopsided after 2nd frogging.
@Ralyns6 ай бұрын
I changed the head and face from the video - head was ruffley done by the video, beak didn't look symmetrical... also did french knots for eyes - looks better. Another thing I changed was only did double thick for circle and did rounds instead of joining each row with sl st, crochet circles together as doing the last sc row and did a reverse sc all the way around the bottom from wing edges for a better finished edge and no extra tie ins to tuck away.
@Ralyns6 ай бұрын
@@victoriawashburn4934 I had to play with it a little - last row don't do increases in every st, was like 5 dc inc, 3 dc, inc, 3 dc, 4 dc inc, dc - join on 2nd st instead of 3rd also. Made a big difference and no longer lopsided.

Hi. I’ve just started making one but it’s hard to follow the video knowing how many to do in each stitch as the rounds increase. I’m fairly new to crochet! You mention a written pattern but I can’t find it anywhere? Thanks x
@SusieAngeloTheEstheticGoddess2 жыл бұрын
@@melanieatkinson3073 , I am referring to the the text she has on her video. That is the written part. I can see how if you are new to crochet it might be confusing. Look up videos on how to crochet flat circles and you will find many examples on how to increase each row. Also etsy has this pattern in written form as well.

@@SusieAngeloTheEstheticGoddess ah thanks for the reply. I read it wrong and thought there was a separate file. Yes I see it now, but I guess I was concentrating so much on the video & counting, I missed the pattern instructions! 😆 The words seemed a bit random so I didn’t realise it was the whole thing. I will sit & note down the pattern to follow along with the video. I think I’ve kind of got the idea for the rounds now, but the head and wings look tricky. Wish me luck. Thanks again xx

@@melanieatkinson3073 lol! Good luck but I know you will get the hang of it! That's the beauty of crochet, you can tear it out and start over till you get it right. Yarn work is so forgiving!! Have fun learning and I hope your day is filled with beautiful blessings!

Many parts hard to follow. You need to verify if you begin a new row after the "chain 1" or "chain 2" in the same stitch or the next. Also you need to verify the number of stitches in each row.

I'm not the creator of this video, but I did get frustrated with some of the difficult views, which made it hard to figure things out. I just posted the math of figuring out the stitches per row, as well as which stich to start the row in. I hope it helps if you decide to try this project again.
