What a good idea to make them for your daughter's birthday party. These were the first project I made when I started learning to crochet. I actuably gave thek out to people at one of my local coffee shops. Everyone loved them. They are still a big hit to this day. They are so quick to make and fun to stitch up too. Your instructions were so clear to understand, and I felt like I was crocheting right along with you as I was making them.

What size hook did you use? If the yarn is thick and you use a smaller recommend hook it will be a tight chain use a bigger hook

How many skeins of yarn did you use to make 30 sleeves? I am having a coffee bar at my wedding and thought this would be a cute party favor for the guests.

u made this super easy because I JUST made it. lol and I am slow to learn stuff but anyway mine isnt perfect like yours I think I need to make my stitches tighter. Gonna try again and see if thats where I went wrong. Mine is a tad flimsy.

At 4:48 you just have to skip the first place and start from the second. That's it...

This is my first crochet project, When half double crocheting I find it very hard to get into the loop/ridge after I yarn over. Is it normal for the ridge to be pretty tight where I have to wiggle my hook in?

If I'm using a 5.5mm hook, how many chains should I do? With 22 chains, the circle is quite small :S Can I just measure it around an actual coffee cup and go from there? Does the number of chains have to be even?

I don't have a 6mm but if I add a few more stitches it should work just as well right? I have a 5mm and yarn to use with it.
@kittyl.15156 жыл бұрын
you will need to adjust how many chains you start with, if you wrap it around a cup that it would be used for and make sure it fits with the last chain fitting on the beginning chain and continue with her pattern then it should work just fine. I find using a 5mm and yarn that works with it, if i chain 25 it fits perfectly
@disneychick0045 жыл бұрын
How do you crochet like that? I am super confused because you move your project with your left hand rather than focusing on the hook movements
@PeggyLove10 жыл бұрын
Isn't this an EXTENDED half double crochet stitch rather than a half double crochet stitch? I love it, but I was confused because I'd learned the half-double crochet stitch without that extra first loop. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I do love these cozies by the way.

Peggy Love please don't listen to JJ. They've been misinformed and won't listen to anybody who tells them otherwise.
I have been chrocheting for over fourty years and was taught that a half double chorchet you pull through all loops on your hook. has something changed? I admit I could be getting senile lols
@skiperdog9 жыл бұрын
Linda Mcneely thats how I learned it too, the way you do it. Where you pull through all the loops.
@PadHopper9 жыл бұрын
+Linda Mcneely You are correct. This video is showing the slanted half double crochet. Not the hdc
@meowscutie9 жыл бұрын
she pulled through all the loops?
@meowscutie9 жыл бұрын
+JJ “Padhopper” McCarthy where does the slant part come in? she's doing a hdc.
Very Good Video. Are you making more???? Please DO More good job.
@ministerdr.cherylbenefield54087 жыл бұрын
is that a different hdc. hdc pulls through all three loops
@bryannablake7 жыл бұрын
Minister Dr. Cheryl Benefield that's what she did, it is a hdc
@carmonalger23155 жыл бұрын
So she uses yarn thru the first loop twice then thru all three loops
@WishesStitchesAway7 жыл бұрын
As soon as I go to the third chain, it keeps getting tighter 😭 I've restarted like 10x. I don't know what I'm doing

I thought this was a great first project for me. I wish I better understood crocheting in the round, specifically the 'join and turn' as I ended up with akward gaps in the seam. It was ok for a first try, but I may need to see another tutorial to get a better idea of how to do this technique.

Does anyone else have this problem? It doesn't look like it in the video, but when I'm done my work, one side of the project (the first row) is always not stretchy and very tight, whereas the last row, is very stretchy. Why is that?
@gcstephy10 жыл бұрын
That happens to me as well Idk if crochet to tight
@ydtz0710 жыл бұрын
Try using a hook one size up to make the starting chain and then switch back to the smaller hook for the first row of stitches and the rest of the project. You might just be making the chain too tight so it won't have a lot of stretch in that first row.
@janetg40210 жыл бұрын
Just did this and I'm having that same problem lol
@TMac75639 жыл бұрын
its because the chain is tight try the single or half double crochet foundation row search on youtube it doesnt make it tight and involves less chaining its nice

its also supposed to be that way if its for like a starbucks cup
