Hi Elena, this is a really nice project and I'm looking forward to getting started. I'd really like to create the stitch that you've made on the waist band half way down which gives some gaps. I think it looks really nice and is a bit of a variation to just the plain double crochet but you don't mention it in the tutorial, could you tell me what it is please, thanks you

This didn't work for me. Leaving a 3 stitch gap between shells was too much and made the skirt bunch up. Your DCs seem to be longer than mine. So i did 2 spaces not 3 and thankfully it fitted when i got to the end! I suggest experimenting to make sure, before committing to the length of the waist band, as multiples of 6 instead of 8 for the initial chain may work better. Then in my next row, i did [DC+Ch1+DC] to make the V; then [Ch1+ SC + Ch2 + SC + Ch1] across top of shell. It lies flat now and works better for me. This might help others who don't have such loose tension.
