I've made close to twenty pairs of slippers. The holes for crocheting around the flip flops are each a centimeter apart. My tape measure has the metric system on one side. Each hole is a centimeter apart. Once I mark one flip flop I place the unmarked sole on top of the other and quickly mark that one. The sharp tool I use to creat the holes is a nut pick. Many younger people probably have no idea what a nut pick is. I also cut the straps off and pull out the "plugs". These slippers really hold up well. I wear mine outside sometimes. And I've washed them in the washing machine. Letting them air dry. They came out perfect.

If you are making a lot of sandals, might i suggest buying one set in the largest size and use it as material you can cut to fill the 3 holes (I use Dollar Tree, so it's cheap). Yes, you can try to glue in the snipped plugs, but I find them to be hard, uncomfortable, and make the bottom of the sole uneven. Instead I cut a similar circular sized piece of material from my extra sandal set, brush a little Shoe Goo onto the inside hole walls, squeeze the cut piece by rolling it between my fingers (kind of like what you do before putting an earplug in), and then I push it into the hole. Let dry. Also- Somebody said they were able to get a holepunch for paper to help them start their cut circular piece. They had to manipulate it a bit by flipping the sandal over, punching, flipping it over, punching in same spot... But apparently it's about the right size hole? Haven't tried it myself, but if it worked it would just add to a nicer finish. I like this way because it's the exact material at the exact height and surface- filling the holes. Very difficuly to see or feel once done. I would venture to say if you are using pricier sandals- you might still pick up a pair of Dollar Tree ones to fill the holes because the materials will be similar. And if you are a craft person- I am sure you will find use for the remaining sandal material for another project.

Would these work for little girls? Or do you think that I should change hook size? They are the cutest slippers that I have seen on KZbin for crocheting and I have great plans of making matching ones for myself, my mom, my sister, and my daughter. In a perfect world I could quit working and just crochet all day every day!!
@makedocrew17176 жыл бұрын
How fun! I love the matching slipper idea! I think you could def alter it for smaller feet. Instead of altering the hook size, I'd actually just keep the hook size the same (or maybe one size smaller) and poke the holes the same distance apart around the sole. Then just work fewer total rounds and modify the top toe section so that it has fewer total little shell stitches across and fewer total rows for the top. Does that make sense? I also have a free pattern on the site for some boat shoe style kids slippers that might be a helpful starting place.

HI I have had the same problem as one of the other ladies on here. I followed the pattern exactly and the shoes turned out huge . When I went to buy my wool. I could only get the medium 4. I am not familiar with 27/4 . I am from Canada. I thought I used the right needles. If my wool is to big , what size needle should I go down to. I wonder how I can send a pic of them. When I look at your wool size. I thought mine looked the same, but it can't be , cause of how big they turned out. I had made them for my daughter and she has an 8 size, I did go down a flip flop size like you had said in the video. Any suggestions.
@lorikilpatrick72576 жыл бұрын
Fixed my problem, found suitable cotton size. I kept my thong in cause I like it that way. It feels more stable to me. I used a smaller needle. I also did a 23 more rounds of slip stetch on the top of the shoes . I did enough rows to were it was suitable for my foot when I walked.

These are so pretty and I made one. It's enormous on my foot and floppy and gappy. Trying to figure out how to get them to fit. I didn't have 24/7 cotton, but had the same weight yarn. I wonder if I used a smaller hook? I tried crocheting tightly, maybe that's why? Was it too loose? Any advice would be appreciated. I have a AA narrow foot....hmmm
@robinrocha2091 Жыл бұрын
One size smaller than you normally where for flip flop.
@paulinemegson8519 Жыл бұрын
I’d prob advise even smaller if you have a narrow foot….maybe even trim the sole to fit. Remember a jandal(flip flop…….that’s such a silly name) is wide and long because of the style. A sole, on the other hand is usually much closer to the size of your foot. You can take a template off your foot and trim to fit.

@makedocrew17175 жыл бұрын
Thank you! You can use acrylic, but I do find that some sort of cotton tends to be a little stronger and less stretchy. The most impt thing is to find a yarn that has the same thickness as the pattern calls for. (This yarn is called a category 4 yarn, but it's really more of a heavy DK, category 3 weight yarn. :)
