How to Crochet Granny Spike Stitch

The Granny Spike Stitch creates a substantial fabric with a lot of visual interest and loads of potential for colour play. It is a very relaxing stitch to work. You can change colours every row, or every two rows as I did. which gives the illusion of a wavy pattern. This crochet stitch would be amazing for blankets!

I think the yarn I used was a cotton/acrylic mix. If you decide to make a blanket, acrylic is great and easy to wash!

Is there a way to carry your yarn when you are going to do a color change? So that your not having to cut and sew in the ends for color changing?
