kelon mio yes, yes you can.its just a recamendashon.i used a 8.0mm and think yarn and I was fine just not that, Thick so yes it fine

Bummer. Just enough matching yarn left to go with my 8 yr old granddaughter 's hat and cowl. Unfortunately, the mitts fit me and I consider my hand a m/l. I used the correct size hook and tried to mind my tension. NO idea what happened. Will not use this pattern again. :-\
