You are an awesome teacher! I am a leftie and have been looking off and on for a very long time for videos to learn to crochet. You are the first that I have been able to follow and actually make a swatch with. The swatches are not perfect at all, but they are way better than anything I have tried to make before now. Thank you!

I've been wanting to start crochet for the longest time, but never found videos that made sense to me. Thanks so much for this series I have not only managed finishing a second line for the first time ever, I have done different squares with different stitches. My daughter is already requesting scarves for herself and her dolls.

I had a lot of fun learning this, but I'm not sure if I'm putting my hook in the right spot on the last stitch before turning. I know it goes in one of the two chain loops from the previous row, but I don't think I'm doing it quite right. Any suggestions?

If you have a stitch marker I think it would help to pop one through the second chain stitch straight after you have made it; when you come back to it after working the next row you will be able to see where to put your hook 😊

I've been using this stitch on my 7x9" sections and while I feel I have a good grasp on the stitch, my edges are NOT clean and straight at all. I've tried chaining 2 and turning AND turning and then chaining 2. Neither one gives me a straight edge. The "chain" piece/first stitch on each row bows out, causing a ripple all along the edge. What might I do to fix this?

I have a tutorial with some tips on getting a straight edge here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3KXZ36CqMxsgq8 but some stitches do leave a bump at the ends, and the easiest way to sort this is to work a border around the piece once you've finished 😊

If I wanted to do a 25 row square of this, Do I start with a chain of 27? In general, how many extra chain stitches and how many chain stitches at the end of each row completed for each type of crochet stitch?
@bellacococrochet Жыл бұрын
I would recommend working a small swatch if you want yours to work up completely square, as the height of the stitch won’t necessarily correspond with the width of the stitch. Generally, a double crochet will require one extra chain, a half treble two extra chains, a treble three extra chains and so on (I am using UK crochet terms) 😊

I've been crocheting for a few months but I still feel like I don't grasp it. On the second row, at 5:46, you seemed to skip one stitch. Doesn't that make the second row have less one stitch than the first row? Unless you count the turning chain of the first row as the first stitch of the second row.

I am having a really hard time getting the hook to pull through the other loops and when I'm "done" the line is considerably shorter when I started. Anyone have any tips?
@bellacococrochet4 жыл бұрын
It sounds as though your tension may be a little tight. You could try holding the yarn less tightly, or going up a hook size, to see if that helps. It’s normal for the starting chain to ’shrink’ once you have made all the stitches 😊

It's hard to say without more details but you might find it helpful to begin from episode one of my beginner series if you haven't already, which you can find here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hp62oIuEptWDbrs It can also be really useful to use stitch markers to help count and identify each stitch 😊

Need help!!! How do I pull through with all loops on without hang up on others yarn. I’m having problems with the last pull through(with 3 loops). I can’t pull through. When I do there’s 2 loops on hook still when there should only be 1. Someone Pls Help me.
@bellacococrochet4 жыл бұрын
Pulling through multiple loops can be really tricky at first but don’t worry, it gets easier with practise 😊 When you are pulling through, try angling your hook downwards slightly and this should help stop it catching on the yarn. You can also try to crochet looser so the loops are easier to slide through.

Make sure that you’re pulling your hook through completely when you work your stitch and that you are only wrapping the yarn around once 😊

is it just me or that after i finish a row, unlike her, i only get 5 stitches and not 10, is it because my yarn is thinner than hers or what?
@bellacococrochet7 ай бұрын
It doesn’t matter what size yarn you’re using, you should still have the same number of stitches 😊 I’d make sure you’re working into each chain or stitch along and aren’t missing any by mistake; especially if you’re using very thin yarn it can be easy to skip them. You can use stitch markers to help you.
