As a left handed 9 year old I taught myself to crotchet by watching my right handed grandmother. I have successfully crocheted for many years doing it my way. I yarn over from front to back and it turns out the same but when doing treble stitches the front is behind my work. Never been an issue until I just tried to learn mosaic crotchet. Working on one side only and combining both dc and trb in the same row doesn't work🤣. Now having to re-train myself as to how I found your videos. Thanks for showing how lefties do it properly.♥️🇦🇺

Your tutorials are so nice to follow and I’m so appreciative they’re left handed! I’m following this vid and I think I did all the steps correctly but my trebles don’t look in row with the ones above. They look staggered for some reason Also if I wanted a longer chain do I then add on two extra for it to continue in rows if you get me 😩❤
@bellacococrochet Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I’m happy you like them! 😊 I would make sure you’re working your trebles into the top of the stitches and not inbetween them, as they won’t line up properly otherwise. To make it longer you can chain any number, and then add on two more at the end 😊

I am enjoying so much learning from your series. I have even used my "settings" to slow down the speed and pause if there is an area of particular trouble. I have a question for you...if US single crochet is UK double crochet, what is UK single crochet?

Really happy to hear you're finding my videos helpful 🙂 There is no UK single crochet; the smallest stitch in UK terms is a double crochet.

I'm a newbie and these videos are fantastic, thank you for doing lefty tutorials! My main trouble with this stitch is that I can't get my rows to a similar sort of height to yours, they always look small and condensed together and I'm trying to figure out what I'm not getting right. If you get time to see this message, thank you so much for these videos!
@bellacococrochet Жыл бұрын
You’re very welcome, I’m so happy to hear you like my tutorials 😊 We all crochet with different tension so it sounds like you might just make your stitches shorter, and there’s nothing wrong with that - you can see my tutorial here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIS3k52gZbV7sLs which explains how we can adjust the height.

I have watched this video 20 times already lol... now i'm watching it again to learn about the relationship between the number of chains and the number of stitches per line! I think you chained 12 and had 10 stitches... is it always (number of chains) = (number of stitches) - 2? Thanks from a MALE beginner crocheter!
@bellacococrochet6 ай бұрын
It will depend how many extra you chain 😊 The taller the stitch, the more chains you will add for turning. Normally one stitch for a double crochet (UK terms), two for a half treble, two or three for a treble (depending on personal preference) and so on.
@maddie3436 Жыл бұрын
hello I have a question, so I’ve been following your videos and the stitches come out pretty much correctly how you’re doing it. however, mine never end up square like yours do. they just end up rounding out naturally. is it my tension?
@bellacococrochet Жыл бұрын
It could be down to tension but I would also check that you're making the correct number of stitches each row; if you have more than you should it will affect the overall shape. If it's a tensioning issue this is something that will improve the more you practise 😊

Do I have to stitch the turnover in the 3rd row (and every row), or is it only ever 2nd row your stitch the turnover?

I watched other videos when doing turning chain, they do three chains. So which number is correct?
@bellacococrochet2 жыл бұрын
It's a matter of personal preference; a lot of people find that chaining three leaves a more noticeable gap whereas a chain two looks more like a regular stitch. You should try both ways and see which one you prefer 🙂

Thank you for making these! So well explained. I have a question about when you would use the different crochets. Not paying mind to the pattern, what sorts of things are best suited for a US single or US double crochet? Is it preference? Thank you!
@bellacococrochet3 жыл бұрын
You're welcome, I'm so glad you like them 😊 US single crochet is a much smaller and tighter stitch so works well for things that need structure such as amigurumi, baskets or plant pot covers. Double crochet is a lot more flexible so can be used for garments and blankets. Having said that, there are no hard and fast rules so it's best to experiment and see what you like 😊
@mermaidmoon89673 жыл бұрын
@@bellacococrochet Thank you so much! Do you think someone should always use a pattern or could a person just choose the crochet stitch they want to use and just create something? I just don’t think I have the technical know how yet to follow a pattern. 🙈

I have watched various left handed videos to get different perspectives from different people and I'm a little confused. You chain 2 at the end to turn where others chain 3. I understand the number of stitches will remain the same because of which stitch you start the row in, but curious why the difference?
@bellacococrochet2 жыл бұрын
It comes down to personal preference; some people find that chaining three is a little tall and creates a gap at the end of the work, whereas a chain two will look neater. I would try both ways and see which you personally prefer 😊
@cathymartin33792 жыл бұрын
@@bellacococrochet thank you. I did exactly that and do prefer chain 2. Also read up on stitching in the first stitch instead and not stitching in the chain and I think that's easier for me too. Still have to figure out how that will impact a pattern but I will keep learning. Thank you again, your videos have helped a lot!

@bellacococrochet2 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry that it's not clear from the video - you should be working your final stitch into the top of the turning chain from the previous row. To help you identify where to put your hook, you can pop a stitch marker through the top of the chain as you make it, so that you can spot it easily on the next row 🙂

I'm sorry that it's not clear for you to see in the tutorial; there are definitely ten stitches in the row but the first two are obscured slightly as my sample is curled over. If you are having trouble counting the stitches in your own work I would recommend using thicker yarn and a bigger hook so that they are clearer to see 😊

Hi there, I'm a bit confused about terminology. I thought this video was about the UK treble crochet but in other places such as this it says that with treble crochet you do 3 stitches in the turning chain. Thanks. www.crochethooksyou.com/treble-crochet-stitch/#:~:text=Treble%20Crochet%20%E2%80%93%20UK%20Stitch%201%20Wrap%20the,the%20hook;%20leaving%201%20loop%20on%20the%20hook

It can be very confusing at first, but you will find that a lot of things like this are down to personal preference. Some people like to chain 3 and others will chain 2 as they think it looks neater; a lot of it comes down to your own tension and the way you crochet 😊 Regardless of the number in the turning chain, the actual stitch is always made in the same way.
