NOTE: In the beginning of this video I refer to the second chain from the hook when working the first stitch. The first stitch is actually worked into the fourth chain from the hook as stated later on in the video. The written pattern is correct if you want to refer to it via the above link.
Adjust size: To make the table runner pattern wider, you can increase the foundation chain in a multiple of 5 stitches until you get the width you want.

You are not only a great crocheter but you are a great instructor, which is key when posting "instruction" videos on KZbin. If you can't teach it, the video doesn't always help. Yes you can... the pattern is crocheted from one end to the other... just stop when you get the length you want. If you want it larger you can add a border.

Great tutorial! Can you tell me what the multiple of stitches would be? I would like to make a narrower one for a piano bench. 40 chains would be too wide; I would like to make one that is approximately 12" wide. Thanks!

The table runner measures 10-1/2" wide. You would need to add stitches. To make the table runner pattern wider, you can increase the foundation chain in a multiple of 5 stitches until you get the width you want.

The first row should end with 38 stitches. Yes, the number of stitches matters in order to achieve the pattern design.
