It has a slightly scoop neckline. I found the dress n Pinterest. You can’t just slap 2 pieces together like that, it will look awful, not a “boat neck”. My plan it to stack a couple of short rows at the top end of the pieces and finish off the neck line with the single crochet edge.

Thanks so much for sharing all this, Kristin! I’m making one for my bestie’s granddaughter. I do have a question… the photo of TS looks as though the dress is wide enough to make a sort of drop shoulder. So if I want to go for that kind of fit, it seems that I would need to add a bit of width to each side of the front and back pieces, and then decrease the sleeve length by that amount. Does that sound right/make sense?

Yes, if you take a wide shoulder measurement, make sure you measure sleeve from that exact point to cuff for sleeve.

Yes, I do have a question! Why are we measuring shoulder to shoulder? I would think I need to measure around my bust & then divide by 2 & make that my measurement, wouldn't I? I'm worried that if I measure shoulder to shoulder that this will be too tight around my bust. Please help my thought process. Thanks so much for this video & for your help in advance. Easy way: measure bust. And hips, in case hips are larger than bust. Take largest measurement. Divide by 2( for front piece, back piece). Crochet chain til length of your measurement. Crochet rows til width of half your bust/hip measurement. Voila. Make slightly slightly larger that biggest measurement. No big deal.

I stopped 4 clusters from one end , after the first 13 rows. Then did 1 dc in the ch space before that cluster. Changed color, turn and did as many rows as I needed to the other shoulder . To increase I did the last row of the center part then ch 17 , cluster in the 5th ch from hook, skip 3 ch, ch 1, cluster(3 times.)Then just continue on with ch 1,cluster in the next sp to the end of the row. Do 12 more rows of ch4, cluster in the first ch sp, ch 1 cluster in next sp. you can make the back the same or instead of stopping 4 clusters from the end , stop 2 instead ( to make shoulder piece) then when you reach the opposite side you would ch up however many you need to make your other shoulder piece. I think it has to be an odd number. Or I guess you could just make the back a plain rectangle if you like.
