Very nice stitch. I am making a scarf using this. Had no problem converting it to a straight pattern. Just a sc for the turning stitch and then began in the first stitch of the next row. Makes a nice solid stitch. I would definitely try it for a baby blanket.

SC is single crochet, or a double crochet in UK terms. You insert the hook into the stitch, yarn over and pull through, yarn over and pull through both loops 🙂

The reason this stitch can’t be worked flat is because the back of the stitch is not the same as the front - you could still make a blanket if you wanted but only one side would show the pattern 😊

This is double crochet in UK term. In US term it's just single crochet.
