Thanks for the pattern and the video showing how to do the stitch. I mostly do granny squares. I needed a baby blanket and I wanted to do something that didn't involve sewing squares together. I found you on Etsy and tried this stitch. It's an easy stitch and the blanket is looking good. It's about one fourth finished in the photo. The baby's not due until September, so I have plenty of time. Of course I'm at home a lot because of the covid-19 crisis, so I have plenty of time to crochet.

I just recently returned to crocheting and your tutorial is fantastic! Hi. You can use the HDC or DC but you will end up with a taller stitch and a looser stitch. I would still do the CH 1, SK 1, between your stitches. And your beginning stitches for each row will vary based on your stitch used.
