Thank you so much for your detailed descriptions of what is actually happening as you crochet these various stitches! It helps me so much to hear that we are doing a decrease, half double crochet etc and you tell us why we are making those stitches! So helpful! I purchased the pattern and I am forever grateful!

Oh my goodness, I just happened to stumble upon you anf your videos. The Moss Stitch as I was doing just wasn't doing much for me fun wise as I started two different Temperature Blankets. You've made it so interesting, clear and fun. Thank you! I look forward to watching more of your videos! What a delight to listen to you. I've never done twisted yarns and have been crocheting nearly 60yrs.

I can't begin to thank you enough for sharing this pattern! It's incredibly easy. I love ripples and have started many times over the years, but I've always wound up losing count of stitches and frogging until I gave up in frustration. Not so with your pattern! Instead of changing colors I'm using self striping yarn and am nearly finished with an afghan. Thank you so very much!

Have you found any solution to the holes in the first row where you skip a chain?
@TwistedYarns
@TwistedYarns 4 ай бұрын
The holes created by skipping the chains is part of the Moss stitch pattern. They are supposed to be there just like every row of the Moss stitch. However if you do not want them on the edge row then I would suggest working a row of sc for the first row but making sure to work the peak and valleys too. If you object to the hole at the tip of the valley, simply pull up a loop in all 4 chains at the tip then yo and pull thru all 5 loops on hook. The hole at the peak is needed as is. But only do this on the very 1st row. To make the last row match, at the points of the peaks work 4 sc to fill in.

Hi. I love this pattern and you are a great teacher with very clear instructions. Can you help me please? I have tried the 1st row a few times now and I keep ending up with just 2 stitches instead of 3. I crochet along with your video, I double check that I've chained 56 (19+19+18). Thankyou :)
@TwistedYarns
@TwistedYarns Жыл бұрын
Thank you for following along and for your attention to detail! I forgot to count the turning chain! It should be stated as a multiple of 19 plus 19. And I state it this way because you need 19 for each peak desired and then 19 so the pattern begins and ends in a valley on each side. If you send me your email at mary@twistedyarns.com I will send you the written pattern!

For 2 moss sts on each slope, chain a multiple of 15 for each peak desired plus 15 so the pattern begins and ends in a valley. Hope this helps.

What are you doing in after that last peak? You completely skip over it until we’re at the last 3 stitches. I keep getting lost on the end. I start with 56 chains like you and follow the video along with you and I still don’t know what I’m doing at the end of the chain.

Yes I am working on a practice piece and it is becoming a lot easier to identify the stitches. I want to make a queen sized blanket using this pattern. Can you tell me how any chains I need to do for my foundation? A queen size bed is 80” L x 60” W but I would like a drape of about 6” on each side.

@@carmendriggs1965 in case it helps you estimate, I just started a baby afghan using this Moss Stitch Ripple pattern (using multiples of 19). I am using worsted weight yarn with an H hook. 10 peaks makes my afghan about 36 inches wide. The formula I used for 10 peaks was 9 multiples of 19 plus 18, or 189 starting chains. It looks like you want a bed cover that is double the width of mine, so plan on at least 20 peaks, maybe even 22 to account for the curve of the drape over the side edges of the bed. If my math is correct, for 22 peaks, I'd try 21 multiples of 19 plus 18. (Honestly, the multiples of 19+19 always leaves me with an extra chain). So for 22 peaks, I would chain (21x19)+18=417. And however you figure it, if you do wind up with any extra starting chains, you can just pick them out. BTW, I LOVE THIS PATTERN AND THE VIDEO WAS A GREAT HELP!!!!

I love your moss ripple pattern and am looking forward to your video with an easy start and finish for the ripple. I made a square moss blanket using your video but my joins are pretty obvious so I was hoping there was a video somewhere for possibly joining in the corner. I did start a mitered corner moss stitch so I'm only working on 2 sides to make the square so there are no joins but my sense of "balance" prefers the square starting from the middle rather than from one corner. Thanks for all that you share. Lois

@@TwistedYarns I guess I was asking if there was a less obvious way to join on the square moss stitch blanket. This popped up on my KZbin for a corner join. I'm thinking a corner join is a little less obvious, at least for me. (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hmrKkKSrbMSfeKs) I did try to find a way to privately send you a link but, since I couldn't even on your website, I have sent this here. Try working on your tension at the valleys in particular. Practice pulling up even loops in each of the stitches and then yo and pull thru all 3 loops. Alternatively, try to make the sc2tog a little bit tighter.

@carmendriggs1965 - I just started a project yesterday and had the same confusion. When I used multiples of 19 plus 19, I had one extra chain left over. I wound up using a starting chain of multiples of 19 + 18. To make 10 peaks, I chained 9 multiples of 19 plus 18. So, (9x19)+18=189...and that worked out perfectly for me. (BTW, 10 peaks with an H hook and worsted weight yarn turned out to be about 36" wide, in case that info is useful to anyone.)
