I learned to crochet when I was about 8 at a summer camp and never went back to it. Some co-workers reintroduced me to crocheting this past year (35 years later)and I still was not catching on so my co-workers recommended watching KZbin videos. I subscribed to you and have enjoyed all of your videos. Thank you so much for the videos. 💐 They are absolutely wonderful and easy for me to follow along. All the Best!

I was Granny's baby she did amazing knit & crochet work. I always had dresses, sweaters slippers, skirts, hats, scarves & blankets she handmade me. She taught me when I was about 8 as well. I never did have much patience to sit still long enough to make anything but a quick scarf. It took 9/11 for me to start back crocheting when I had to fly, to keep my mind occupied & calm as I flew often on 4&5hr flights. I still didn't have much patience on the ground to finish projects. Until now, about 40yrs later I have a granddaughter! I want her to know Granny's love the same way I did. I've been making her the cutest things. My daughter in law too.

For the people having trouble with it widening, try counting your stitches as you go to make sure you don't gain stitches. I had problems with that on other projects and it help me. Hope you find it useful.

I'm fairly new to crochet in and I usually make do with what I have on hand. I tried to do this MULTIPLE times with my 9mm crochet hook (literally 6 times, threw the yarn) and then I couldn't find my 9mm crochet hook. The only other one I have is a 5.25 mm and this is working GREAT! It just kept getting wider when I used the 9mm, and it was definitely my fault, but my 5.25 with bulky yarn is really starting to look cozy. Just in case anyone else is struggling!

Love this tutorial! So easy to follow along with and the pattern is perfect for beginners who want to make something that doesn't look like just a simple beginner piece! Question: can we decrease the amount of single and double crochets we do in the very first step to make a smaller pair of socks? I did the suggested 11 chains around the circle and after about 6 rows I noticed the socks were going to be WAY too big for my feet... is there a way to make them come out smaller for smaller feet??

Same. I had to pull my entire sock. I figured out that I was putting a double crochet in the last stitch on my round when I wasn't supposed to be. I still had a wideness problem. They still fit but I ended up on the last round double crochet decreasing two evenly. I used the same yarn and the same hook. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

@rachelvanhooser26838 жыл бұрын
Did you by chance figure out why? I am having the same issue...is there a step missing?
@tracey47598 жыл бұрын
Rachel Vanhooser I did figure it out. There is no missing step. After you chain 3 for the next row you must properly locate the 1st stitch. Otherwise it will widen with every round if you use the stitch behind the 1st stitch.

@sondrab18816 жыл бұрын
Rachel, I see that your post on here is a year old so you have probably either finished your socks or given up. I made a sample of this pattern using acrylic yarn and size "J" hook because I couldn't understand why a lot of people said the sock got wider. If we're supposed to put 1 stitch in each stitch after row 2, you should have the same number of stitches around in each row all the way to the top of the sock, right? By counting my stitches each row I immediately discovered MY problem-- I was putting a double crochet stitch in the slip stitch (joining stitch) of the previous, each row was getting wider!! This may not have been your problem but like I said I found it to be mine, I was doing that without even realizing it until I counted the stitches.

This might be to late but when you chain 4 and make a circle you then work in the circle to make round 1 not the stitches . Round 2 you work into the actual stitches

@tammytays60738 жыл бұрын
This pattern is really easy, however, sock keeps getting wider with each row. A stitch count at the end of increase row then each row after that would be helpful both in the pattern and in the video tutorial. I did the math and the increase row was 17 stitches (the row before that was 11) from my calculations, however, my rows still keep increasing. If anyone else can get a number on their stitch count, please do share.

I NEED TO KNOW IF I CAN USE RED HEART SUPER SAVER YARN TO MAKE THE SLIPPER SOCK, LET ME KNOW I WANT TO TRY IT TODAY
@kaitlinvaughan19388 жыл бұрын
mary whitaker yes you can... but you would need to use an appropriate sized hook for the yarn since red heart is a 4 and this yarn is a 6...which means you would need to crochet more rounds and stitches to account for size difference so it can still fit your calves and feet. Also, the socks will not be as comfy since red heart is acrylic yarn where as lion brand wool ease is wool
@TruHappinessDC8 жыл бұрын
+Katie Vaughan Thanx!!! I have forbidden myself from buying not another skein of yarn until I have used the 3 big trash bags full I have already accumulated but haven't used. I got most of it from an Estate sale or local thrift shop. Many are already in balls with no labels so I'm not exactly certain the brand or weight. I'm eyeballing it based on texture & feel. Looks like I have quite a bit of super saver acrylic.

What size foot do these fit?
@fiberflux8 жыл бұрын
+Suzy Rie Great question! These are constructed in a "tube sock" style, so they don't have a traditional heel. That means they can fit any length foot, and if you need them to be taller, just repeat round 3 until you get to the needed height. Hope that helps and happy crocheting!
@samirahwalker43496 жыл бұрын
My socks keep turning out like v’s instead of u’s.. do you have an idea what I’m doing wrong ?
@sondrab18816 жыл бұрын
Without even realizing it, until I counted the stitches, I was putting a double crochet in the joining stitch of the previous row, making the sock get wider. Since we're putting 1 stitch in each stitch after row 2 (should have 18 stitches, I think): each row should have 18 stitches all the way to the top of the sock.
