Thank you so much for this beautiful doily! I am new to crochet but thanks to your super helpful explanation, I am on my row 8 and looking forward to finishing it. Just one thing, what do you mean by ‘blocking and drying’?
@handmadebyraine
@handmadebyraine 4 жыл бұрын
You are so welcome! I recommend blocking the doily to get a better shape which means I make it wet, stretch it out on blocking mats and attach it with pins, then let it dry completely.

Hi I just did this and it looks great thank you for a beautiful tutorial 🥰🥰❤️. Question what else did you do in the end when you were finished other than spraying water?
@handmadebyraine
@handmadebyraine 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you! I like to spray some starch on my doilies to give them extra firm shape. And I pin them on blocking boards to dry.

Hi, it's a very beautiful. I tried it but as I came to the 13th round I started getting ripples. Are my stitches too right or too loose
@handmadebyraine
@handmadebyraine 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Margaret, I'm glad you like it! It's ok if it curls a bit, I would recommend keep crocheting and most of the time it evens out as it gets bigger. If not, you can definitely try to switch to smaller hook, that can make a big difference! Please let me know how it turns out! 😊

How many doilies does one aunt Lydia yarn ball do?
@handmadebyraine
@handmadebyraine 2 жыл бұрын
Depending on the size of doily. Bigger ones usually most of one ball, smaller ones maybe two doilies.

Hello, my doily gets very wavy, looks like it’s too large. I already opened it twice and I’m sure the count is correct. So what am I doing wrong ? Thanks
@handmadebyraine
@handmadebyraine 8 ай бұрын
Hi, most doilies get wavy while crocheting them. You will need to block it when finished to get it in nice flat shape. You can also try to adjust your crocheting tension and use smaller hook to make your stitches tighter. I hope this helps!

My first time using thread,..is it supposed to be quite STIFF..I find it stiffer than using sport weight yarn..how do you block this??
@handmadebyraine
@handmadebyraine 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Deborah, I'm not sure about the stiffness of the thread. Usually it's the blocking that makes the doily stiffer. I usually make the doily wet, stretch it out on blocking mats and attach it with pins. I also spray some starch to give it extra firm shape. I let it dry completely before removing the pins.
