Moral of Story: Never create an opening which is a Blunder unless it's a great opening that has no name.💪🏻😎 Caro-Kann Defense: ✅ > Alien Gambit: ❌. I can't thank you enough for making this video.😁👏🏻

@@ChessGoalsI know, maybe it's better for the algo to have Gothamchess in the title, but could it still be changed to Witty Alien out of respect? Or just leave it as the Alien Gambit? Thank you for your good and informative work!

Black is up material but in low elo the position is better for white. Meaning the position is harder to play for black for beginners. Atleast that is my experience. I am noob

Objectively terrible only if you know how to play against it, which in practice is not the case for the majority of games.

@@awesomeadjutant ye but an easy to counter piece Gambit. not just a pawn, an entire piece. that wont work otb against people higher than 1400. In bullet and only in bullet it is a fair opening. but thats it

Alien gambit has crushed even GMs so it cant be that bad. Scores pretty well in bullet/blitz games when short of time to make all precise moves... So i would say, objective its dubious, but as s susprise weapon its not that bad at all. Its humans behind the boards, not engines.

After 8.c3, I recommend 8...Nc6 first. It will most likely transpose to the line in the video.

The line in the video is good is you want to go for maximum advantage and you are willing to enter a dangerous line relying on your memory about the traps. There is a simpler way which was recommended in Schandorffs newer Caro-Kann book from 2021: Instead of h6 just play c5 and get a slight advantage as black. Typical lines are 1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. Nc3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Nf6 5. Ng5 c5!? and now e.g. 6. Bc4 e6 7. Ne2 a6 8. a4 Nc6 or 6. Be3 cxd4 and the knight on g5 is just misplaced. You will not get a big advantage playing c5 but a small one without risk and the need to memorize the tricks of a complex gambit ... and will you really memorize them well enough after a few weeks? ... and of course it will be annoying for white that they cannot play their fancy knight sacrifice 🙂

@@krishnansuresh9206 Rejecting the Alien-Gambit in the Two-Knights variation after 1. e4 c6 2. Nc3 d5 3. Nf3 dxe4 4. Nxe4 Nf6 5. Neg5 is more tricky. My reco would be Qc7!? (Bg4 works too but not as well). The main reason for this move is to prevent Ne5 by still keeping Bg4 as option (there is a second more hidden reason because of lines in which Nxf7 only works if black is forced to take back which is the case if the knight attacks the queen on d8). White has several options after Qc7. General rules for black are - Avoid h6 before castling. It weakens white squares and invites not only Nxf7 but also sacrifies on e6 especially after Re1 or Qe2. - Usually play Bg4 and exchange on f3 after h3 which is simpler than Bh5 (gets exchanged in some lines on g6 leading to double pawns). - Bg4 does not work that well after whites Bc4, but than we have b5 with tempo and the option to play Bb7 (watch out for e6 protection). - Whites Ne5 needs to be avoided because f7 cannot be defended against both white knights e.g. after whites d4 with Nbd7. Example lines are: - 6. Bc4 e6 7. Qe2 b5 8. Qb3 Bd6 - 6. Bd3 Bg4 7. h3 Bxf3 8. Qxf3 Nbd7 9. 0-0 e6 - 6. Qe2 Bg4 7. h3 Bxf3 8. Qxf3 Qe5+ - 6. d4 Bg4 7. h3 Bxf3 8. Qxf3 e6 9. Bd3 Bd6 10. Bd2 Nbd7 11. 0-0-0 0-0
