One thing that I think should be briefly mentioned; if you have the position at 1:30 in Bullet with f3, watch out for Black's Bullet trick Bg4! If you premove (or move too fast) and take the knight with fxe4??, you lose the queen to Bxd1. Easy fix--after f3 Bg4!?, you just don't take the knight, take the bishop instead. The e4 knight is planted in White's position for the time being because there is no longer an f-pawn to trap the knight, but White should be doing well being up a piece.

Hi GM Smirnov,I have a doubt regarding chess:- 1)While we are calculating,do we have to move pieces in our mind or do we have to draw arrows in mind 2)Which colour squares of chess board should we imagine? Pls answer.
@atharvapolekar444323 сағат бұрын
Imagine however you feel comfortable. For me, I don't focus on color squares but on coordinates, and my coordinates are good. I also personally move pieces in my mind.

One of the best chess channels on youtube! :) I'm a beginner at chess, and I'm having a hard time dealing with more experienced players who bring out both their knights right away as their main attack and wreak havoc on my pieces. (I call them knight gambiteers. hehe) Was wondering if you could consider doing a video on how beginner players can develop their openings in a way that protects them against more experienced players who love using their knights for aggressive attacks right away. Cheers! :)

With 6... Qd5 (instead of ...Bf5) black is fine... The difference is that after 7.f3 or 7.Qe2 ...Bf5 makes much more sense. And no, the wild Qe2 variation does no give White enough compensation in the following complications... If Black wants to avoid these complications, even 6... Nd7 would work well.

My rating before seeing your videos was 1100-1160 Now I am nearly 1500 using your rules especially offense is the best defence, which I learned from you. Here one of my last blitz games with two brilliant moves and 93% accuracy which illustrate offense is the best defense: 1.e4 e5 2.Qh5 Nf6 3.Qxe5+ Be7 4.Nf3 Nc6 5.Qc3 Bb4 6.Qd3 O-O 7.e5 Nxe5 8.Nxe5 Re8 9.f4 d6 10.Qc4 dxe5 11.Qxb4 exf4+ 12.Be2 Bg4 13.Nc3 Nd5 14.Nxd5 Rxe2+ 15.Kf1 Qxd5 16.Rg1 Rae8 17.d3 Qd4 18.Bd2 Qf2#

@@og568 There's nothing for the queen to capture on h6 and simply moving the queen to h6 will get it captured by the bishop on f8, so it would just be an even queen trade.

Lieber Igor!
