Just checking in on this video after a year to say this repertoire is great. Since studying this video I'm frequently completely winning right out of the opening against stafford players, and it usually feels like my opponent has sacked a pawn to give ME positional compensation and a time advantage. It's gotten to the point where I have a Pavlovian-mouth-watering reaction when my opponent plays 3. Nc6, thanks for the many free wins.

Awesome content as always Daniel!!!!! I just watched this video and one of my very next games was against the Stafford Gambit. I ended up absolutely CRUSHING him and even trapped his queen! 99.7% accuracy! I was so stoked, never had a better feeling in chess. Although my opponent clearly didn't quite understand the tactics behind this tricky gambit, it was so satisfying being able to simply dismantle his every move. The Stafford gambit always seemed easy for me to defend against, but lately people my skill level have been truly studying up on it, so I finally got tired and looked up the vid. Onto Eric Rosen's many videos on the gambit :) Thanks again Daniel!!!

Your comment is very disrespectful. If you get into a middlegame with better position, then it because you refuted the opening. Again, opening has nothing to do with getting outplayed it the middle or endgame despite being better after the opening. Daniel will have better position after the opening against Hikaru's bongcloud - this what matters, he can claim he refuted the bongcloud.

Very nice. High marks exploring, presentation and analysis covering the most active piece play consistent with the theme of the positions. My initial reaction is it seems complete so if true leaves secondary options... Is there a way to improve any line to at least achieve something less ambitious, even a playable middle game? My early idea which might not work is to first make an escape square for the B in the h5 line, then follow up with c6-c5 to try to break down the White pawn center. It won't result in the K-side attack Black wants, but it might be the best option to just get a playable middle game and not be in a totally lost position a pawn down with ineffective pieces.

The irony here is at 17:05 (7...Ng4 8. d4) you will now fall into the newest Stafford line (8...Qh4 9. g6 Qf6) which stockfish overestimates by a huge margin. You need Lc0 or similar to get a true measure with some lines where you need to play only moves.

At 16:30 instead of c3 we might go to exchange the material by pinning f Knight with Bg5 and when he moves the Knight we take black Queen and let him fork the white one.

I was proud that I just beat my opponent who tried the Stafford against me, I knew I was playing against the Stafford but I didn't know the theory. I was pleased after the game to see my first several moves were the best, until I blundered Bg5, and I saw Nxe4 Bxf2+ but I didn't see the Bg5# at the end so I thought it was unsound. I guess my opponent saw what I did too, and didn't go for it. Now I know. Thanks

This serie is a really nice idea. As a suggestion, i would love to see a video on the Danish Gambit. I want all those fucking pawns and nothing to worry about! And also the king's gambit accepted.

Thanks Daniel, this is great help for my strong (unrated so far) beginner opening game. Possible follow-ups may be some more positional options for black from the Petrov & Stafford declined by white? My past coaches recommend learning the KI, but the Petrov seems more interesting to me.
