Not quite. Let the oil reach the inside too, it will wash after use if it's this or butter. It will crack if it has poor quality palo santo, has the knot badly placed, it's too thin... and, as it happened to me, if you start pouring the hot water too soon. I recommend to pour water at room temperature first. This will spoil mates, of course, but eventually we can reach the hot water you use regularly. Additionally, keep it away from exteriors /windows, cold weather will create a sudden temperature shock and crack it. The sound is neat, though.

In my mate appears some green-black stains, is it normal? Thanks and excellent video!
@yerbamatelab4 жыл бұрын
Yes. If you cured your gourd with yerba, it's the coloring from the leaves. Some calabash gourds also naturally have some staining. However, if you see some white fuzz on the surface, that's mold.

@yerbamatelab4 жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes, you can use butter. I've never done it myself, but I've heard of others doing it.

Hey, you just oil exterior surface? Also, no need to add wet mate or hot milk?
@yerbamatelab4 жыл бұрын
Yes, just the exterior. Some coat the interior as well but that may affect the taste of your mate. Adding wet yerba isn't necessary. Just a traditional thing to do. I've never heard of hot milk, but I'd assume it affects the taste as well, so I wouldn't recommend it.

It's ok for me, it's cool to see latino-american culture in other countries, it's cool; as cool as people eating sushi. It's ok, man.

Because with the internet white people like myself are exposed to cool traditional very ritualistic natural ways of doing things. Some of us are tired of buying stuff in cans all the time 🤷♂️ Edit:typo
