Great job! I'm about to do that for a metal frame and thought I'd see what You Tube would show. I'm glad you mentioned clear coat, but I'd like to have seen that being applied.

ive been trying to get the fade even all the way around the frame that im working on , i just keep f***ing it up, doesnt help that i always gotta be a perfectionist about everything but thats just how i was taught to treat my work. i honestly didnt gain much from this video. you made it look easy and im an amatuer when it comes to painting. ill just keep trying.

The longer you wait the harder the paint will get. Some paints say you should wait like 30-90 days

Always use a sealer primer if you are paintin over a previous paint job.

Cobalt! Those bikes rock, and everyone should get one. This video was great, too. Nice paint.

Would I have to use chemical paint stripper/remover and then sanding for a new paint job or just sanding like this okay? I've been told better safe than sorry
@davidfletcher28124 жыл бұрын
As long as you're using a good primer, you only need to sand down the old paint job - as long as it's smooth after the sanding.

Super job , I tried the same on a metal frame. And I feel the top coat is peeling. Do you know what I done wrong
@LockedinCycling3 жыл бұрын
That could be a handful of reason why it did that, 1 make sure its same brand of primer color and clear. 2. your base color might have not fully cured before you put on top coat.

Aren't you suppose to protect the part of the bike from overspray while spraying the secondary fading color?
@LockedinCycling3 жыл бұрын
Depends on how your spraying it, cause if you back mask it’ll create a line so the fade won’t transition as smoothly

So if I have a matte paint on a brand new bike but want to keep the same color I still have to sand it down ?
@LockedinCycling4 жыл бұрын
TigerMTB BKLYN yes so that whatever paint your adding has something to stick too, it won’t adjust correctly without sanding

How much does a typical paint job cost to have it done at a shop like the one in your video? Is it possible to repaint a carbon frame that already has a clear coat on it?
@LockedinCycling4 жыл бұрын
Chris Blankenship price is gonna vary a ton depending on type of paint used and condition of the frame it could be anywhere from $400 to $1000.
@ROSE-by5su4 жыл бұрын
Locked In that was to expensive you should go here in Philippines it only cost 100 dollar and you can have a chameleon color with the brand name painted in and it was more high quality than what you thinking it was like car paint and high quality
@daveseemerollin63572 жыл бұрын
Yes but in the Philippines wages are far lower across the board and so is the cost of living

MEK, Acetone, or IsoPropyl Alcohol for final wipe before shooting?

Simple degreaser would be fine, those other products may work but depending on paint it may wipe paint off with it
