In this video we are going to dive into material customization a bit. Rendering in Fusion is pretty straight forward and there really aren't a lot of options for things like Cameras or Lights. And while a lot of the default materials are good right out of the box, we can make them better.
In this video we are going to explore using the height and bump map images from Plain and Twill Carbon Fiber to give it a little more realism.

Very interesting. My customers do not require these details yet. Good to know. Thanks Matt.

:) The stock appearance is pretty good from most angles, but ones you get away from the light source angle it just looks black. This trick works with other appearances with textures too :)

Do you have a video on how to apply this surface to an existing design and do you know how it would look if 3d printed?

Sadly this is an appearance only and does not change the model at all. If you are looking to print a texture like this you have 2 options. Some Print slicers will have texture options that can be applied to the model before printing. Another option is a mesh program like Blender. As for how to apply, you simply drag/drop onto whatever your object is. The project and shape might do some interesting things. It works best on a single face as wrapping around multiple faces will often do some funny things with the tiling. you can manually change that with "texture map" but it would likely be a good bit of time.
