Great video... just a note if you are using the DayBetter led strips there is no outer plastic coating to cut as is shown at 0:48. You are able to just push the cut connection with the adhesive backing still on it into the slot of the connector under the metal clips and it works just fine!

L.E.D. strip lighting is (in many cases) what's considered to be a 'project' for most people and for whatever is the desired application. Again, it's a project. The reason that you can cut your strip every few inches and that connectors are sold are proof of it being 'project' oriented for customization. Soldering is no exception in certain cases. With all projects, come a need for certain tools. Would you complain that you cannot write because your pencil tip broke and you have no pencil sharpener? Would you expect to bake a box cake and get irritated that you have no mixer that would need to be purchased separately? This is no different. A cheap soldering iron can be bought from Harbor Freight for like $5. Solder is a few bucks. Connectors can be bought on Amazon or eBay for like $6 for a pack of ten. You act as if a soldering iron is unheard of to have in a common household, or as if hundreds of dollars are invested in these basic tools or components.

for the ppl in the back who still need to know, this is what u gotta do, when you first get your led, you cut it into a second strip, there’s a connector at the end to hook up to the box you originally hooked it up to, but if you want to cut it into 3 strips your gonna have to buy another connector (link in description) and do what he’s doing at 0:50 but unfortunately your gonna have to get another WiFi connector (also link in the description) for the third and fourth one. And if you don’t know how to hook up the third and fourth strips to the WiFi connector just watch a KZbin video on how to set up led lights or reference back to when you hook up your first two. I was a rushed explanation so just ask if u still confused.

Look up 4-pin solder-less LED connectors on Amazon! There are plenty of videos on KZbin explaining it and they are solder-less so you don’t have to take these soldering steps like in this video. At least I didn’t and mine turned out perfect.

Beware: Addressable lighting strips are not capable of being re-connected, but if yours are standard smart, non-waterproof RGB lights, you can definitely use the connectors. There are T-Shape (for 3 connections at once), L-shape (for clean right angles), and standard 4 pin connectors. The standard connectors are just for connecting your strips on a straight line! Hope this helps! 99.9% of led lights are not addressable and if they are, the company makes sure to let you know for sales purposes, so you would know if yours were.

I REALLY appreciate your excellent video. It's very helpful. The video suggests that it's best to "seal" the spliced connections with heat shrink and you mentioned to make sure that we use the "correct type" of heat shrink but did not mention exactly what that type is. I also can't find a link to that specific heat shrink product. Can you please explain that part a bit more (and how do you heat shrink wrap if it's an "L" shaped splice ie at the turn on the corner of a TV) Is it ok to use either electrical tape, hot glue or silicon sealant instead of heat shrink?

To anyone who is having issues connecting their light strips with connectors: SOOO I bought the DayBetter 32ft LED strips and stupidly cut the second one thinking I knew what I was doing, but I clearly didn’t and felt as if I ruined it! I had already bought connectors knowing I’d need them. After watching this and trying, it still didn’t work but then I tried something... when putting the two strips together using the connector, flip the connector BACKWARDS so the doors are on the backside instead of the front, and the spikes are piercing through the FRONT and not the back.. AND IT WORKED!!! HALLELUJAH!! And on top of that, both light strips flow the same and have the same color, no dimming issues. I hope this works for you guys and you no longer feel like you wasted your money!! Let me know if you have any other questions!

paradyse When Using a connector, there is a normal way for them to sit, with the ‘doors’ on the front facing you. Mine have spikes that would typically puncture though the back of the strip to the front. But by having the connector face backwards, with the doors on the back. Have the spikes puncture through the front of the strip instead and lock it!! If enough people request I will upload a video to make it easier to understand!

I did this and it went pretty well, I connected three 5m strips together and they work. Problem is that the second strip is less bright than the first, and the third less than the second, barely even giving light at all. I don’t know if it’s due to the quality of the connectors or the led strips, any idea on how to fix it?

What wall adapter do you use to power the led lights. Say for the 3528 lights with remote?

reef guy 92 , it's NOT a weld, it's solder but you are correct. they make and sell connectors that simply snap together. just remember to put the heat shrink tubing on first.
