You still have a very rough deformed edge that will still make a mess if additional trimming is needed. More trimming will also tear away pieces of finished product. These new tiles with the brown backing are fine when used as full sheets but too thin and the inner material too inconsistent for reliable trimming. I’m going to try running a panel through a table saw and if that doesn’t work I’ll look for the more expensive thicker panels I have used in the past. It would be worth it.

Unless these are decades old, there wouldn't be asbestos. They still make and sell these today

Actually You are using the wrong tool. you should just use pro carpenter knife.
