Standard jewelry saw. Knives are silver plated

Thank you for that demonstration. It's a lot easier than I though it would be and your narration is clear. I'm curious about what the knife is made of. Silver? Do you have suggestions about what to look for in old cutlery that would work best for this project.

It is silver plated. Avoid stainless steel.

Probably a counterweight - you won't know until you saw it open

They're very inexpensive, go to Rio Grande jewelry supply (or any jewelry supply shop online) and get an inexpensive jewelers saw like the one I have in the video (under $20) and get a few packs of blades (a few bucks a pack) - try out a few different sizes (I forget what I used here and I am not in my workshop right now to check) but you want the fine toothed jewelry blades but you don't need the smallest/finest. I don't know if a different type would would but you could try!
