Nice job.....there is a brand name for the rubberized abrasives called Cratex. They make different grits in different colors. The "bouncing" is called chatter, and as mentioned, is decreased with an increase in cutter speed.

One thing to keep in mind the he didnt do was have water on a container to constantly be dipping the blade in to keep it cool. Doing this stuff to the blades creates heat and you ALW want the blade to be kept cool cause it will start to mess the heat treat if to much heat is generated. And it take not time at all for it to start heating that steel up. Other then that great job

Medford commented to me about their plunge/choil. His excuse was it would affect the detent because the track is so close to the plunge. But you could always cut it farther forward and not touch the rear of the choil.

You should of done and explained that doing this stuff creates a fair amount of heat to the blade and should be cooled regularly in water so it doesn't mess with the heat treat of the blade.
@kennethtape33623 жыл бұрын
Maybe just maybe you could run into a bit of trouble should the dremel decide to take off across the the full length of the the cutting edge, doing it by hand with a rat tail file is a bit more time consuming but a lot safer for the novice. `Just saying’ 👍😄 thanks for the video Jarred✌️
@NeevesKnives3 жыл бұрын
The folks that have a hard time using a simple tool like a dremel can always use a file absolutely, imo if you have that much trouble using a dremel then you probably shouldn't be using a knife, and since the point is to cut in a Sharpening choil I'd guess they sharpen so they can always sharpen the knife afterwards or cover the areas they don't want to damage with tape

Not bad at all. Looks like it is pretty even too. I guess my only question is why do you have to put one on the McNees knife? Don't get me wrong, it is a nice knife with quality components but for $500, it should already have one. I just find his knifes to be way overpriced for what they are and you can get similar models for half the price with a sharpening choil, over travel stop, lock bar insert and better clip. Seems like I'm bashing McNees again but I like the way they look, just wish they had everything with the price they are asking for them.
@NeevesKnives3 жыл бұрын
The owner asked me to, I said it could wait until it's next edge but he said go for it, which will make Sharpening much easier in the future for it and will look so much cleaner after the edge I put on it

I would giver you a few hints on how to keep frim damaging the teeth on the carbide and how to keep the tool from getting away from you like it did in the vid. by climbing up on the actual edge of the blade. But then again, you have proven too arrogant to take any advice. I guess with a lot more experience you will learn on your own. Of course, you'll screw up a lot of peoples projects un-nesicarely along the way. No man is an island. A shame to let arrogance block knowledge and help. KnifeMaker
