Soooo...I love to sew lots of different things. My hubby really wanted to get me a cricut maker 3 for Christmas. I balked. I don't do paper crafts. What the heck am I going to do with this expensive thing when what I really want is another sewing machine? Well...I've always wanted to make these sweet little animal dolls with outfits for my niece. Your video showed me how to cut the dang little pieces on this fancy cutter. HOW COOL IS THAT? I am so grateful! You are funny and a great teacher. I push myself through some of the lousiest youtube vids to learn new things. Yours was actually fun to watch. THANK YOU!

Thank you, you did a wonderful job detailing the steps. For those who have a ScanNCut, it will scan the pattern and you will get actual size scan, set down fabric on the mat and it cuts the pattern piece just like that. FierceKittenz, thank you for all your incredible videos, always well done.

I debated HARD between Brother Scan-n-Cut vs the Cricut Maker 3. I just went with the Cricut because I didn't need a scanner (I have one here) and most of my patterns I'd cut pieces for are too big for the scanner :(
@gypsyrobin Жыл бұрын
@@fiercekittenz, the scanner works in unison with the cutter and the saving options whether to the machine's memory, a USB stick or wirelessly to a computer. Plus you can place the material piece anywhere on the mat, then scan the mat which shows the piece. You then move the object nicely into the material area and cut. I too have a 4-in-1 printer, fax, copy & scanner but don't need it other then to do a regular pattern printout. It's having the best of both worlds. 😉

Cards (I hate my handwriting) decor, recipes, christmas tags with halographic sheets, notecards, pantry labels, gifts, paper ornaments, glass etching, wood burning, grave flags for pets, I even made a gift for a friend's children of coloring pages, now my new chicken coop. The sky is the limit now this. I'm loving it.

Great video! You can also group pieces by changing the color, so if you made the exterior fabrics blue and the interior green or whatever, cricut will keep them together on the cutting mat. However if you still don’t like the layout when the mat view comes up, you can manually rearrange & switch mats 😊

Totally! I mean, in this video I used a faux leather and regular pressure. I made sure to select the heavy fabric option as it'll handle that pretty well. I think if I used marine vinyl I would have had it use more pressure though. This faux leather isn't backed with fabric like a marine vinyl is.

Great video. I have all the tools but always reluctant to pull it out. It is awesome for wallets with card slots, though. One thing you didn’t mention is to look at pattern placement before grouping when using one directional fabric. The Cricut software likes to save space (sometimes) and moves individual cuts, so grouping together first is important.

I had prior experience with a Cricut. Mostly I liked the versatility of the materials that it cut and the wide availability of tooling for it. The Brother ScanNCut is a great machine, but I didn't need a scanner, plus it wouldn't have scanned the larger sized pattern pieces I wanted to cut!
@BeowulfIsMinNama Жыл бұрын
@@fiercekittenz more questions about the M3. You mentioned a larger cutting mat, does that mean it can cut larger pattern pieces? up to what size? Or do you primarily recommend for the little stuff? I shopped around a bit and noticed several bundles, but not sure if any of those items really apply to bag making (don't need a whole other stash!) So, what accessories would you recommend? Sorry if I'm roping you into a bunch of Cricut videos.

Everything I’ve read about cutting vinyl is you should place it face down on the mat. Which is best?
@fiercekittenz Жыл бұрын
That's if you're doing heat transfer vinyl. Shiny side down, mirror it before cutting. For what I'm doing here, I don't think it matters much. I cut a marine vinyl though. Maybe if it were a custom vinyl with the fleece-like backing it would make sense because of the fluff?

I have an explorer 3 can i still do this? What cutters should i use? And should i use woven interfacing on my cotton fabric parts before cutting or will the fabric mat be enough? Sorry im new to the cricut but ive been sewing for a few years and i wanna speed up my process so i can sell some stuff. I'll also be making things that use marine vinyl as well
@fiercekittenz9 ай бұрын
I honestly don't know :( I don't have and haven't used an Explorer 3, so I can't say. If the rotary blade attachment is available, then the answer is likely yes. If not, then I wouldn't bother cutting fabrics with it, because a regular blade is not going to be able to hack at it when it needs to change directions.
