Have you ever heard the term “cutting against the grain” and pretended to know what it means? It’s ok, there are so many other people wondering what it means, you could start a club 😜
In this video, Brand Ambassador Justin Grimm shows us how to cook up a perfectly juicy, medium-rare flat iron steak in a pan on the stove, plus how to cut it against the grain using the F.N. Sharp Steak Knife so you get more tender and easier to chew pieces with every single bite. As a bonus, he shows us how to use the F.N. Sharp Santoku Knife to prep some fresh grean beans and dry-fry them with some Asian flavors for a super simple and delicious side!
Ingredients for the Asian-Style Dry-Fried Green Beans
🔪 1 lb green beans, fresh
🔪 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
🔪 1 tbsp soy sauce, light
🔪 ½ tsp sugar
🔪 2 tsp toasted sesame oil
🔪 1 tbsp Shaoxing wine, omit or substitute with rice vinegar
Preparation
1. Place a large saute pan over medium-high heat. DO NOT add oil or butter.
2. Once the pan starts to smoke, add the green beans. Then do not disturb them. Allow them to develop some color ‘n char, then toss. Repeat as necessary to obtain color all around.
3. Now add the rest of the ingredients and stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
4. Transfer to a plate, share and enjoy!
