How to de-clog your Catalytic converter. Dura lube | Car-addiction

I used Duralube to declog my catalytic converter but it looks like it didn't work, maybe I really need a new catalytic converter.

My experience went like this. Ford Edge with 80K check engine light came on and I noticed exhaust smelled like sulfur when I pulled into the garage. Added full bottle to a 3/4 full tank (approx 16 gallons). Check engine light turned off in five minutes after adding and hasn't come on so far after 500 miles of driving. I think I will start to add this to a tank every 4 months in hopes of preserving the converter for as long as possible. Product seems to work well on at least minorly clogged Cats and/or dirty sensors. I'm sure there is a point at which a Cat gets clogged enough that a cleaner like this won't work at all. Just like most things on cars the sooner you catch the beginning of a problem the easier it is to save or maintain vs full replacement.

My Subaru mechanic told me to get your tank down to about 1/8 tank, put one of these in, and then run the car until you absolutely must get gas (for my car, 1/8 of a tank will take about 40-50 miles to empty out). When fueling, add another bottle to the tank, and run it down to E again. He says that doing it the first time with an almost empty tank is like “supercharging” the cleaner, and having it so concentrated gives the cleaning a boost. So, when you add a bottle to the full tank and run that, it’s “primed” to get cleaner.

Good suggestion; however, my concern is running 2 bottles so close together? Im seeing most of not all those Cat cleaners, mentions every 5000 miles. I wouldn't want to cause other issues from running the chemicals to rapid? I currently just experienced code P0430 cat bank 2. Im looking for a solution rather than replace

You have to put in your tank, run it through until your tank is almost empty, then reset the code and see what happens. For my Murano since I didn't have a reader I pulled the negative terminal off and drove for 100k for the computer to rest, once reset the engine light didn't come back.

Just used this on my 2005 Acura TL with 170k miles on it. I had gotten error code po430 and was told it was 800 for new cat. Used this and passed emmisions testing 30 minutes later. Would highly recommend.

I'm looking to add an exhaust cleaner to try and clean up my trucks muffler. Apparently once the muffler starts to age on my canyon the exhaust likes to drone like I have a crappy ass fart can on it. Curious is this crap works

I just got mine from auto zone yesterday. I am ready to use it now , my tank I believe is half so I going to put in the all bottle, didn’t get much information in the comments bellow but I have the idea and will drive my car straight road , so if I missed something let me know now.. Fill up with premium gas while you run it. They seems to work better with premium.

It won't go away by itself. You will need to reset the code

@@runningrich Hey just drive this morning around 45 miles in the check engine light gone.. this product worked good in my car/ Toyota Corolla 2007 with 345000 miles. They recommended to use it every 3 months. I will bring my car for emissions this Friday..Thanks

Sorry for the bad sound. It worked for me on a previous vehicle which basically had a clogged cat. Didn't work on this one as I suspected the cat is 13 years old.

I have an 11 Infiniti m56x with the 0420 code and tried seafoam cataclean and 2 others with no successful results and tried the Duralube. It took over a week to burn that gas out and the code went away so I can honestly that this is the best choice with the most positive results and now it's almost impossible to find in any store but I can highly recommend this product.

Full up thentank with premium fuel, dump the whole can in the tank, go for a 2-3 hour long drive.

Gonna use mine today. The bottle recommends 60 use bottle with 60 litres pf fuel. Is it better to use on an 1/8th of a tank or so?

People have commented different ratios for different application. Make sure you use premium gas. And try different ratios

Dump the whole bottle in a full tank of premium gas. Make sure you don't go beyond 60L. It basically heats up the car fast.

Lol I mix the Dura lube catalytic converter cleaner with the royal purple catalytic converter cleaner try it it works with wonders

They are both identical, basically acetone with some additives.

When you added it to your tank how much fuel was in there. Half a tank to 1/4 of a tank works best with 1 full bottle and run 91 octane after you run the cleaner thru your exhaust system. Duralube products are great. I was actually surprised to hear it didnt work for you. Tbh Duralube and Motorkote are the only products ill use in my old Chevy to keep my old Silverado on the rode. To bad i cant use them on my wife 🤣

Hello I hope you help me I also have the code p0420 I saw your video and several videos to convince me to use this product I bought it from the store he told me to fill the tank and pour everything into the bottle I got to my house then I went back out I was in the highway and I realized that I had to put e. 3000 rpm to reach 100km when normally it is 2000rpm and from that the power began to drop and the engine began to make a noise as if it were coughing I don't know if I understood myself and I had to get to one side I called my brother for help Then I tried to turn it on again and everything was fine. I returned home but I was 60 km away out of fear. Do you know why that is? It's because of the product. Did I do something wrong or do you know what happened?

Lacquer thinner. Not paint thinner!!!!!! You could ruin your oxygen sensors. But it's cheaper than replacing the cat. Dura lube severe cat cleaner helped my car. I did both the lacquer thinner and dura lube. Separately.
