I, an introvert, can also be found hanging out in the back room with the cats during parties. Thank you for explaining how their little brains work! I recently got rid of my old sofa, and everyone was *traumatized* for two days. And thanks SO much for the warning about tinsel! My little guy was pulling plastic strings from the carpeting of a worn cat tree, so I've put that thing outside until I can recover it with a safer material!! I'm also going to try Feliway for my nervous children (and Pet Releaf, 'cause they need to chill). Meowy Catmas to all!! 🎄🐈

Great video! Would love to see a video about end of life care for cats, especially dealing with kidney disease, arthritis, weight loss, and medication sensitivity. I have one who probably won't be with us much longer, and the stress of not knowing when to make that decision is so hard. My vet says what she's going through is a very common end of life cycle for cats, so maybe this topic would help others loving their kitties to the bitter end.
@Sharon-pb7so4 жыл бұрын
If you know your cat will enough you'll know when it's time to help them cross the rainbow bridge. Our beloved Sophia was 20 years and 9 months old when she left us. We miss her terribly and are getting to the place where getting a couple of rescue kitty's is going to happen. I'm ready, my husband needs a little more time. My doctor wrote me a prescription for Feline Therapy, 2 cats, zero refills. It's taped to the refrigerator right now and I want to fill it asap.

Love your videos. Thank you so much for doing them. I've been told by others, including vets, 'Cats eat when they're hungry'. I couldn't help feeling, knowing my cat, 'No, he'll eat when he feels safe'. As an pet owner you know when something's up. I'll add to this the more stressed my cat gets the more he insists I stay with him on guard duty whilst he eats. This would be perfectly fine were he not a nocturnal nibbler lol.....
@xVadRay4 жыл бұрын
My cat was playing with yarn the other day and he started eating it I pulled it out of his mouth and he had already swalloed because a lot came out. Of course I threw it away but at the moment I didn't know it was that dangerous. Now I'll make sure he can't access linear things like that

I missed Sir Lancelot! Please have him on your channel more ;P That being said, my cat doesn't do well around very young kids (too noisy, too quick, too impulsive), so when my nephews are over, we set her up in the master bedroom with her food, water, litter box, and all of her favourite toys and scratch pad. If one of my nephews wants to see her, I bring him up there at a time and only if they promise to be quiet and gentle. So far, it's worked out well!

Love this guy! I have a semi-feral cat that I adopted at 7 months old. She never fully adjusted to people. She freaks out when company comes. I learned to shut her in my bedroom with a litterbox, and food/water when I have company coming to stay. She stays happy knowing she's safe in my room and doesn't have to "hide." I am less stressed because I don't have to worry about my cat being uncomfortable.

Very good video, as always😻 Huge thing is scent. Cats have better noses than dogs, so any change in scent in their home environment can trigger stress. I recommend to everyone a pet fountain. Feral & wild cats prefer to drink from running water. Many cats paw at their water, this is actually to see how stagnant the water is( useful outside). You may find that your cat stays much more hydrated if they have a fountain available. There’s several that work well & don’t break the bank.

Happy holidays! You said in you video about Mr. Pirate that you brought him with you over several plane trips. It could be amazing if you make a video about moving with your cat! Like how often, or should you avoid it, what age, is there a limit how often? I've been doing a lot of research about cats, since I'm planning to adopt in the near future. But what I've been thinking about, that is a big problem for me, is that I don't know if I'm going to live in the same country for all my life. And I've seen so many people saying to not move with you cat by plane, because is really stressful for them, and should be avoided. I wouldn't want to do something that would hurt my cat. But if it turns out that moving with a cat CAN be done if you do it correctly, making sure your cat could handle that trip, taking care of the cat after trip, then me adopting a cat could be an possibility anyway! I really wanna rescue a cat, but if this is not a possibility for me, I would try fostering cats! If anyone else has any answers to this, I would appreciate it a lot by commenting! Thanku!

I have two 2 year olds and one 1 year old. My mom and I argued back and forth for a long time about putting up a Christmas tree. Finally I agreed to let her try (with non-breakable ornaments, of course). She put it up on a Sunday night. When I came home from work on Monday, it was already gone, no sign of it. We started securing the tree after our kitten climbed it. Even though with dogs or small children it seems the right thing to do as well. All our animals from that time are gone now and the children are grown up, but the tree still gets tied to the ceiling every year. The hook is already there and it isn't much work, i do recommend it. Also, i watched this together with my own cat and she started staring intensely when the tinsel got waved around :D Merry Catmas to y'all 🎄

Yes, I made that trip to the emergency vet last Christmas. Smokey’s UTI wasn’t caused by stress related dehydration, but it did reveal her kidney disease. I’d love a video on CKD, since it is so common. Early clinical signs you might miss, how to keep kidney values low, when to use various kinds of meds, things like that.
@HelpfulVancouverVet4 жыл бұрын
Probably wasn't a UTI. Stand by for my next video (in 3 weeks or so ). :-)
@nancykelley92464 жыл бұрын
Helpful Vancouver Vet I’m looking forward to that video. Anything urinary/kidney related is obviously of interest to me. So, if a urine sample is teeming with rod bacteria, it might not be a UTI? These are things I need to know. Especially since she was sick again last month and we couldn’t get a sample.

Merry Christmas Dr. Yuri. And Merry Christmas to your cats from Charlie, Nimbus, Frieda and Millicent. Charlie is our 'fraidy cat. He hangs out in one room in the basement and I have it set up with a litter box, food and water. He comes up at night after our younger dog goes into her kennel for the night. Nimbus and Frieda are hunters, but luckily live in a rural area with no traffic, so they are free to roam and catch as many mice, shrews and snakes as they like.

I am really looking forward to your inappropriate urination video! I'm moving in a couple of weeks and I'm worried about how my two senior cats who dislike each other are going to handle it. One of them has had a problem with inappropriate urination in the past, and several vet visits brought us no enlightenment. We finally concluded that he's just dramatic. I'm definitely going to set up some feliway in the new place and in the bathrooms in our current house which is where I'll put them until all our furniture is placed. Wish me luck!! @OrangeFluffyCat4 жыл бұрын
Oh no, the water from the tree stand can have toxic amounts of pine in it. Maybe cover the water with plastic wrap to prevent cat from drinking it?
@HelpfulVancouverVet4 жыл бұрын
Cancel the panic! Water from under the tree is not toxic. If you add fertilizer to it or something like that, it could upset the stomach but it will not do serious harm.
