Honestly, there was a couple month period where I was doing phone orders for a women's clothing outlet, so basically I'd be tasked with trying to upsell people who were calling in to place orders off the catalog, and my most and least favorite customer was a guy who admitted without any prompting that he'd JUST come home from the hospital after having had brain surgery. Given how bad of a salesman I was, and how boring so many of the calls were, I'd have LOVED if someone like Tim Dillon would've called in and made the whole thing some kind of skit. I wouldn't have hung up like this, I'd have stuck with it for as long as humanly possible, and it would've taken my supervisor literally cutting the call on my behalf to end it, because nothing really encapsulates the soul-crushing boredom of it. Actually, interestingly enough, after that job I worked for the same company as an overnight security guard in one of their warehouses, and the guy that I was all alone with the whole night in a giant building in the middle of nowhere was a guy who'd casually just recall stories of all the people he'd savagely assault and robberies he'd commit; that will spice up a night shift, I tell you what.

I'll tell you though - I worked for a market research firm for a few years and there are some really great surveys that are done over the phone too (politics, car knowledge, local surveys were done constantly, product surveys, surveys about the service you received on recent cust. service calls, etc). This obviously was an insurance call but the opportunity for roasting the survey calls should never be passed by because you can take your time with those ;)
