Dark Phoenix had a many drawbacks, first, you needed 5 levels, activation could be avoided by stealing metre, activation was not triggered by the player, she could be switched in to be killed early, when on, she could be hit and killed with a regular air combo. After a while, players developed strategies to make her irrelevant. I will always remember Age-something who used Frank West and caught her with an X-Factor cancel to Super. He could control it. She fell off the top characters pretty fast to make way for Morrigan. Building metre in seconds, stayed powered up forever while chipping your bars away. And she could steal metre to cancel Dark Phoenix. Man I gotta see these matches again :D

Especially for the part where you explain that even after training, this Super Skybound is still dangerous, and it's still difficult to react to everything perfectly, especially if the Lowain player is aiming to mess you up. I agree that the developers wanted to make this a viable super, and not one you can lab out in 10 minutes and neuter completely. That said, I feel like people tend to overfocus on Yggdrasil. Personally I think Lowain's neutral is kind of lacking, so his gameplan is actually designed around keeping the games close with his skybound and super skybound.

I've seen some people hit Yggdrasil with jump normals that not only keep them airborne with hitstop, it also seems to burn a bit more Yggdrasil time since she gets stuck in armor lock. I don't know how viable of an option this is, maybe something you can experiment and add to this vid if you feel like it?

When playing Ferry there is a some space where you can swing and when you're swinging from that space nothing can hit you, but you might get hit by the lava when you fall so you just become a drill and hope your opponent misses the timing because of that. Ygg is pretty frustrating but if you get into your opponents rhythm you can probably survive it.

Just from a trailer of Lowain, i coulda tell that character will be 1st to on a nerf list. (Maybe) However, on every different atack Ygg has a specific hand movement. And it's easy to see when on what atack the animation starts (Atleast for me). So If you can read fast, Ygg shouldn't be much of a problem. Other than that, practice makes perfect.

I'll be honest Lowmein is looking like babies first barrier character, they just need tweak him in that direction. A combination of the following are honestly all that needs to be fixed - 1. Her meter needs to burn out quicker or be used more depending upon the attack (You would think they'd know better at this point) 2. Scale back the chip damage you get from lightning. 3. Damaging her gets rid of some of her meter, if Lowmein loses all his health before she desummons then he dies when it's done. 4. Remove unblockable damage, allow for chip done by her to not exist until Lowmein manages to actually hit you himself 5. The lower her meter the less damage you take. 6. A longer activation time, and a better rule-set for summoning Waifu(Think Phoenix Wright Evidence from MvC3) I'll be honest, the only reason Low get's this oppressive waifu is because they realize he's kind of on the weak-side and tries to force the match into sudden death which is a game plan akin to turtling which has never received a good reputation ever.

this gimmick is kind of like Dark Phoenix mode in MVC3 in a way. especially with set ups that seem pretty much unavoidable. a good player with Phoenix can do a gnarly "full screen of projectiles" set up that i was on the receiving end of one time at a local tournament.

The in-game lore about it is the bros dream up all the fights, and Yugu being an active buddy to the bros is based off their shared delusions of them having relationships with their top picks. For Lowain it's Katalina which because of some delusion meme-ry is a mecha tank, Elsam likes Yugu so dream Yugu supports their tomfoolery, while Tomoi likes another chara that isn't in Vs though arguably of the three has the most accurate portrayal of the character when it comes to their delusions. Granted still got a mile and a yard from the real thing, but also the closest of the three.
