My family is Jamaican and the way my grandmother and great aunts decorated their homes were very Caribbean British colonial and I love this style! The details are everything and the greenery of the plants here and there with beautiful dark wood furniture, and the way they hung photos on the walls. I really wish I played more attention to how they decorated, set a table, arranged flowers, wrote thank you cards or holiday cards etc with stamps and beautiful pens and paper etc. The whole thing I’m just realizing was an art and chic and with care. ❤️

This is my favourite style, I love the feeling it provokes, high tea, drinks on the large covered porches, rich woods and finishes, like some scene from an old film. Loved pieces on display. I expect to see Humphrey Bogart of Peter Ustinov sitting in one of the chairs. So bougeouis and relaxing

Just love this style, it’s natural, luxurious, antique meet Sunday market and seamlessly melt in the best of East and West. Our home has Indochine aesthetic, very similar to this.

My grandfather was in the US Army for 38 years, my father for 25, serving throughout Asia and Central and South America. Much of our furniture and home furnishings come from their travels. It is very similar to this style. But instead of British Colonial style, we refer to it jokingly as American Imperialism.

I definitely see some aspects of British colonial that I would incorporate in my small house. It looks like you might have to have a large space to accommodate some of the heavier furniture but there are also some smaller pieces that would work well in my small space. Greatly appreciated video

Hello bwiseok, one of the things I love about this style is that even though there are some larger furniture pieces, many are light-weight and easy to move throughout the home due to the materials used. I believe this is because campaign furniture was designed for travel. I'd love to know what elements you see incorporating in your space! xx

Really beautiful examples in this video! It reminded me of the many times I vacationed in a stunning rented villa in Jamaica. I'm always a sucker for rattan, sailors' valentines, and campaign furniture. I think I was a ship's captain in a previous life. 😅

As a Parisian , this style is not very present here (we have "Compagnie des Indes et de l'Orient etc... from the colonial past of France, but it is more Asian and very modernly reduced). As a British Caribbean, this really doesn't sit right with me. Am I the only one seeing all the issues with this. I'm redecorating my new flat now and researching true caribbean heritag to inject life in me decor piecies. "British Colonial Style" sounds and looks like it's stripes all the joys of the vibrant culture of the Caribbean, Asia and Africa only selecting a more palatable version of the cultures. Not for me at all.
