Seeing you pop up on my page cheers me up 😍 Can we have more examples of creating focal point please 🙏 I am struggling to decide what to put in between 2 full length windows for focal point, no TV ( that's in a different living area) or fire place. 😫

I’d go with art! I’ll often go to yard sales and pick up old pieces I don’t care for to get the FRAME! Then you put in the picture of your choice! Good frames can cost a fortune, so taking apart an old one, cleaning it, and replace the picture can give you an elegant but inexpensive focal point.

Re: TV over the fireplace - In many homes, the layout is such that this is the most logical place to put it. A couple of options to make it more aesthetically pleasing and practical are: a) In a new build, if you're going with a gas or electric fireplace, consider a low profile model that will allow you to place the TV more at eye level. b) If you have to mount the TV higher, look for a tilt-down TV mount that will allow you to watch without craning your neck.

Another wonderful video where you totally understand and design around real life homes ❤. I do have the matched sofa, loveseat and ottoman but absolutely nothing else in my living room is matchy-match. Some piece are very old and some are not. Things have been added and changed over the years. Also, the furniture fits perfectly, my old dog climbs his stairs that are strategically placed so he can get to both sofas. ❤. (L-shaped like a sectional) But both dogs sleep on the back of the love seat which placed under a window so they can see outside ❤❤. Thank you, Garrett, I so love your videos!

Hi, Garrett! Another great video! Question, in a living room with a floating sofa, how tall should the end table lamps be? I could listen to your advice every single day!
@GarrettLeChic
@GarrettLeChic Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! It depends on height of the back of the sofa. It should be taller than that, but I don't like aggressively large lamps either.

Ways I’ve gotten rid of ugly furniture. Spill something horrendously smelly on it. Buy nice, possibly expensive furniture slip covers. If the chairs are recliners, those do eventually break 😉😉 Play Garrett’s videos when he’s around! It honestly helped my husband have a better appreciation for living in a pleasant environment !

I am loving this blue striped shirt! Luckily I have grow lights in pendant fixtures for my plants- and I’ve got them set to warm tones. I currently have an issue with too much small furniture, lots of little tables and shelves bc I couldn’t afford anything big for so long. I’m trying to figure out how to arrange this mess, I’m thinking about getting all my furniture in my apartment cleared off and just like, resetting and reassigning things to each of the rooms in more balanced, intentional groupings. I’m sure I’ll find even more help with all that as I get caught up on the past _weeks’ LeChics_

I have a radical & controversial suggestion about TV placement: DON"T HAVE one in the living room! We have one only in the family room, because we want to reserve the living room for focus on family & friends, having conversations, playing games, being together without digital distractions. What a huge difference this approach has made. Just consider it as another alternative!?!
@GarrettLeChic
@GarrettLeChic Жыл бұрын
I think that is a great idea, and I agree. However, there are some people who don’t have a living room and a family room so I’m trying to help them come up with ideas for TV placement in those situations. I would certainly recommend having the TV in the less formal area such as the family room and having no TV in the living room if you have both spaces.

A very autumn (in here) good morning Garrett, It seems long wait, but here you are:) Thank you for today’s video. My favourite is always the living room. I should admit that my all knowledge of lighting has come from you. I did know a bit about it and have read about it but I wasn’t much convinced about it, but post watching and listening to you and the way you explain it, it sunk into me the beauty and the value of layered lighting. I have incorporated them and I am loving it and so is the family. So MOTS (moral of the story) : You bright up lives 😍 Have a wonderful week ahead!! Much love, Ramani

Do you have any tips on window treatments/dressings? I’ve put it off for months now since moving in because I love the natural light and am relatively private on the 3rd floor. But it’s become more difficult to do work on my pc when the sun goes down (as well as if I’d like to watch anything on tv - the glare is terrible). I’d like to keep them the same on the outside because my neighbors all have, but I’m afraid that won’t work for each room as the office is a very dark green compared to the white walls in the living room and the mid-dark blue forest-scape wallpaper in the bedroom. Thank you ☺️

I'm a fan of drapes, Roman shades and even high quality shutters in certain informal areas. In terms of matching the others in your area, I'm assuming what you see is white. If so, you can have drapes and Roman shades lined in white. Of course, as you will see in other videos, I'm not a fan of blinds.
@Amanda-mt2hx
