How to Decoupage Buttons - Super Easy

The technique is super easy and turns boring old buttons into something yummy. So if you haven't tried decoupaged buttons before, give them a whirl, they're super easy.

You could cut a bunch of circles and stack them to make it thick like chipboard/wood, then collage it, then punch holes. A faux button lol. Love the TH collage paper! TYFS! New subbie here Michigan USA ❤️🦋💜

I always go into the store and go up to the most expensive thing in the store and that’s what I want. Lol. So then I go out and try to make it. I love your floral vintage buttons. They are no longer available in US or UK. I found some others I wanted. They were $22.50 a button! Since I own about a million buttons and napkins I’m going to try this. Yours are gorgeous! I really like the ones that you did the best! The one you paid all the money for are kind of dull and boring. The pink and purple flower ones are my favorite. I get so many ideas from you. You know, this video reminded me of some covered button blank that are about an inch in diameter. I bought them about 50 years ago and never used them. Hi Julie! I LOVE your ideas- & I just remembered, I saw Pam from the Paper Outpost make buttons from book pages. ( Circular punch, glue 3 or 4 together).You could paint them white or just use the napkin backing (1 layer). Using a 1/16" punch for the tiny holes makes it quick if you even want to bother). TY for your wonderful videos 💖 welp, I just heard you talk about making buttons from cardboard 😄

Hi Sydna, thank you so much love 😊 You could seal the buttons with another coat of matte medium or whichever glue or adhesive you used to stick the paper. Another option which is a little more expensive is an aerosol acrylic sealer such as Plasticote. I use that one to spray my larger journal covers when I sell them. Often with the napkins they are already sort of sealed as the adhesive soaks through, if you get what I mean Hope that helps love 😊🤗💜

Hello Julie, it's so funny that I found some napkins today searching for something else. I will just have to find big buttons now. I love how these came out, they are so pretty. I have a new jar of gel medium which I like better than mod podge too. Thanks for sharing.

You must have known Denise😊 Yes I find the Matt medium far less sticky but sticks much better if that makes sense😅🤗💜

Oh! Julie these are brilliant! Thanks for sharing this cute idea! Could you use your paint brush and a bit of water to take the edges away? Or would that undo the mat medium? Those buttons are probably the same because they were for a dress and not a journal.🤣😂🤣😂 I LOVE that black on that looks like damask! beautiful!

@@CameliaCraftsDesigns 😁🤣😁. Not sure about normal bc my family and friends call me "abbynormal". Honestly the idea just came to me because you were using a napkins and when using them on crafts water is the only way of removed the excess. It possible that go ole H2O might not work bc of the mat medium. 😂😂
