How you play the net rusher will vary depending on the net rusher. If they get close to the net, a lob is good. If they stand deep, then aim for the feet. If they have a bad overhead, lob. The answer will be specific for the net rusher and the opponent.

Yes very true. It will also be greatly influenced by the standard you're playing at. Against higher level players lobs tend to work less often, aiming for the feet tends to reward more. Thanks for watching. All the best Simon

This was a helpful comment... I'm at about the 3.0 level and just played a net rusher for the first time (hence finding this video). I think "aiming at the feet" isn't advice that applies to the game I just played. This guy pushed all the way up to the net there was like a foot of distance between him and the net... doesn't make sense to "aim for the feet" in that situation. Lob is better, or passing shot if you can find it.

Great advice again Simon. Couldn't concentrate too much though, kept thinking an alligator was about to emerge from the water behind you.

Sounds like Nole was asking about some dude (named Roger if I had to guess) who kept dominating at the net and it looks like the advice paid off... lol

What if they are really good with low volleys with very low slice approach
@TopTennisTrainingOfficial8 жыл бұрын
If they are really good with low volleys the ball still will have to travel up over the net, more chances to get an easier ball. If they are good with low volleys, probably are great with medium/high volleys

Top Tennis Training - #1 in Online Tennis Exactly,plus when they use the low slice approach and they come close to the net,is not easy to make they play low and it's even harder to hit a lob. I usually try a cross court passing shot with top spin,but usually he knows that and he covers the net. Almost everytime the point finishes with a stop volley winner.

If they close the net as you say, then the lob opens up. Mixing it up will help you, some low balls into the feet, a few topspin lobs, some balls right into their body etc

cool but the question is I am a bit of a net rush and what are things to watch outfor
@diggler20026 жыл бұрын
Practice your approaches, volleys, overhead, half volley. I only play doubles and I net rush all the time. I used to rush the net and get lobbed all the time. Nowadays I only come to about the service line. I appreciate that this breaks all the rules about no mans land but I find it works for me. You must find what works for you.

What if they hit a really solid approach

Same tactic applies, if you can't set up properly then the defensive lob becomes the only real option to stay in the point but if the player is good, they will kill it normally
