Thank you!!! i never understood how to actually USE this in designing things and I truly appreciate your guidance. I used to get SO confused... Did I have to use the arcs from the golden ratio? Did I put things under/above/within the guides? How will I ever get projects done if I'm not able to understand grids?! >.< and I studied design at uni!! hahaha... I was overthinking it all... The benefit of coming back to learn from these videos? The invaluable time saved by creating structure for content...less time relying on my eye.

Thank you. I just loaded illustrator to utilize in developing my visual ideas. I've used the golden ratio for other applications, but never in a developmental program for art. As you moved the elements around the grid you created, it immediately became apparent that the grid worked as you hoped it would. As I'm not yet familiar with illustrator, I'll muddle through until I know the functions required to work for me. However, if you ever make tutorials for the various illustrator tabs, I'd probably watch it a few dozen times.

😂 thank you so much! If you're just getting started on illustrator there's some great classes online for free teaching how to use the tools. I would recommend checking them out. I appreciate the content suggestion! I will add toolbar tutorials to my list of video ideas. In the meantime, as a self taught designer I have a lot of great videos teaching the principles of graphic design for beginners. Check out "How To Use Contrast In Your Designs" as a good starting place. Keep up the hard work 🙌

One question about the grid: the golden ratio template and the paper do not align - I'm a bit confused about this. Can we simply disregard the white space on the right side? Or is it a part of the grid? Nevertheless, a truly great video and thanks for sharing great content Jacob!
@jc_hardt Жыл бұрын
Great question! Always remember that grids are simply a guide. We don't want to squish or stretch the golden ratio, as then it wouldn't be the same ratio, but we can use it in any size or orientation. In this video, I chose to give the grid a margin on the side, but there are plenty of alternative layouts as well! I hope this helps!

@NovaKurosawa3 жыл бұрын
I mean no offense but this video is a nonsense. The piece of paper does not have the same format as the golden ratio. You still have a white line on the right. If i may suggest, you should investigate "the square of Jan Tschichold" who made serious research about the balance of masses on different formats. This obviously includes typography etc.
@NovaKurosawa3 жыл бұрын
I've seen an other video of a youtuber about the golden ratio. The interested thing he mentioned is the number between each square. Each bigger square is the one smaller multiplied by 1,618. this way you get to work directly with the golden ratio in any format. I hope this make sense to you
@jc_hardt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing your opinion! Obviously, everyone has their own opinion. The golden ratio grid is simply a grid system built on the golden ratio. When using grid systems in layout design there isn't really a "wrong" way to do it. The goal of this video is just to help people think about grid alignments a little differently! Thanks for sharing.

@@jc_hardtAyo as an amateur designer, your video conceptualized the golden ratio in a digestible way. So if your goal is to teach, it worked. I see something now that I didn’t before. Again, greatly appreciated.
