Dang... no way to change the colour of the level, or make the background anything other than a boring flat plane? I always hate when games have stuff in the pre-made levels that can't be done in the level editor. Oh well...
@griffpatch2 жыл бұрын
It can all be done in the editor, well except the colour hue which required you to go into the chive and set the hue variables...
@Murnjendoof_too2 жыл бұрын
@@griffpatch Thanks for your reply... I am a bit confused though. By "background" I was referring to the grey silhouette hills that appear behind the levels in the story mode, which are replaced with a grey flat plane in levels that are created in the level editor. I didn't see a way to change those in this video. Also, if I change the hue of the level, will that change be encoded in the shareable level code, or do all loaded levels just have the default green hue?
@griffpatch2 жыл бұрын
@@Murnjendoof_too Just press G to toggle the ground type at the mouse cursor :D - and yes, once you set the HUE, and HUE2 (see them on the far right of the first sprite) they will be encoded with the level permanently until changes here again.

Amazing game! It feels really complete. I really like how you combine great gameplay with amazing graphics and UI (to the point that you make a really user-friendly level editor). I know this sounds weird, but one of my favourite things about this game are the black borders, and the method of creating them. xD I have one suggestion: Maybe you could add a tag for the flag for it to be optional if the screen can scroll further to the right? I can imagine some people wanting to put their finish in the middle of the map, only accessible with a key, or to make some kind of a maze that ends in the middle.

31:00 it would be cool if the trampoline simulated how far it would spring Appel based on the x and y values inputted. This would be useful as we wouldn't have to keep doing trail and error to get the spring distance we want. Let's say y=30 and deceleration=-2 (change y speed by -2): I made a program that would calculate the max height, and it returned a value of 240 units up (max of 3 tiles up based on your 62x62 tiles). 30+28+26+24+22+...+4+2 = 240, floor(240/62) = 3.

Amazing platformer and coding techniques! I'm learning a lot about inner workings of scratch from you! You probably won't read this because there are so many comments but hopefully you or someone that knows scratch really well can help answer. I assume these are best practices learned from programming over the years. Why do you use 0.03 seconds in the wait command instead of other values? Also in the Player sprite's position now block, you used the "and" operator with a blank with key space pressed. I can't tell if it's a bug or special programming technique. Will watch the videos all again to see if I pick up additional nugget of wisdom.
