No matter where you work these days-in an office, at home, or wedged in wherever spot you can find-are there ways to design your space for the better?

05:30 Rethink the future of offices
Many of us long to create a personal environment that’s conducive to getting our work done well (and comfortably so). But how should we think about what goes into an “optimal” work space? What are simple yet effective design principles that help us prioritize what needs to change? And how could this impact our workspaces (including home and traditional offices) in the future?
I sought answers from Elyse Ayoung-an Associate Designer at architecture firm Gensler and Co-Founder of the MiD Collective, a professional network for BIPOC Interior Designers in Boston and beyond. If you’re feeling inspired to change up your workspace but unsure where to start, Elyse suggests prioritizing “purposeful” design choices (however you choose to define it), being honest about where and how you do your best work (that “desk job” may not require a desk anymore), and giving yourself permission to test new arrangements (no change needs to be permanent, so why not try it out?).

Purpose comes along with practicality indeed , yes a better office space environment that makes you feel comfortable really affects productivity , but i'm just wondering , how come you hardly grab a pen when you love writing that much! 😄

Software engineer. Super dense workspace at home, but comfortable. It all has a purpose, and always has to have some beauty, with some more functional, and some more aesthetic/emotional. Functional and beautiful: - Vintage retro desk, three drawers. - Herman Miller Cosm chair - Graphic tablet for idea generation, plus explaining ideas to others. - 27" iMac, 32 Gb, 1 TB HDD - 6 GB external for backups and other files, but on a platform hidden behind my iMac. - Black wooden riser - Pitka charging platform for my iPad, phone, and watch. - Google nest mini for managing home environment. - Logitech MX Keys keyboard and MX Master 3 mouse - Large abstract print gaming mat under keyboard and mouse Beautiful and functional (feeling good matters): - Asian-style bowl for glasses - Ceramic pens holder - Covered felt trays for organizing cables, connectors, and office tools Pure aesthetics: - Electronic photo frame, to enjoy pictures and spouse with me. (happiness whenever I look at her smile) - Ceramic / glass art pieces (gifts from spouse) Pure Function: - Space heater - Printer/Scanner
