For #automatic_generator_start_and_stop, we require an #automatic_transfer_switch panel or an #automatic_changeover_switch.
This #ATS transfers power from your primary source to a backup source automatically, when it detects partial or total failure of the primary source.
When the main power system fails, the ATS invokes the backup source, which here is a #3_phase_generator, to run the electrical equipment until utility power is restored.
This ATS is also capable of #automatic_generator start and stop, in addition to transfer of power to the load automatically.
ATS must be properly designed and wired to the main and backup power sources correctly,
because it needs to communicate effectively with both power sources, before switching power to connect the equipment to the proper power source with a minimum delay period.

The use of two contact open and do ATS, is not safe, when the current is large contact head temperature is high, so that the contacts fuse and can not be separated, the other switch on, the circuit will be made to safety hidden advantage. But I have a question... if one of the contactors get stuck, wouldn't the auxiliary contacts also get stuck? Or not necessarily? I'm asking this because if the interlocking is done between both contactors through the auxiliary contacts... wouldn't this be considered a safety layer or is a safety relay still needed?
