This podcast really deserves to being watched and analyzed seriously millions of times. I cannot find enough compliments for this episode. Thank you Dr. Newport.

Cal is the GOAT of podcasting, this is the best thing on the internet. I know he thinks Huberman is cool but honestly Huberman has nothing on Cal. Cal's content is better, his presentation is better and he seems a lot more genuine. Don't ever stop, Cal, your ideas, strategies, analogies, are so valuable. I also love his nerdy humor.

Huberman is useless and overrated...he also needs to name drop Stanford in every intro

Why does every bloody KZbin video need a comparison army like yourself? Stop comparisons. If you want to review the material in this podcast, that would be better appreciated.

Never expected you to talk about Sam Sulek. His style is like the old school vlog of guys like The Hodge twins, Chris Jones and others I would always watch.

Question: I work in public libraries as an assistant where I’m good at what I do but I’ve basically plateaued- there’s no projects that I can take on to gain new skills or experiences and I would say my level of skill is beginner/intermediate (as I only get practice in doing general/basic IT assistance, graphic design and event management. I am one of the go-tos if people get stuck.) I’ve tried asking for projects but they generally get put in the back burner due to under staffing requiring me to be on the front desk (but in a way that I can’t predict) while I love working with everyone, our head doesn’t like things done without her say so doing tiny projects to improve things by like 5% is not a go. (Last person got yelled at..) So my question : is it time for me to bite the bullet and do more things outside of my workplace so I can gain skills for more control over my life? I love being in service of the community but the pay utterly sucks no matter your level and I’m getting the real sense I could get SUPER stuck even if I went for a diploma in library info science….

This is very interesting but only works with the assumption that you can compare the functioning of a human being with that of a machine, which you absolutely can't unless you're a very specific type of person. So don't get too frustrated if you fail at keeping up with all this boards, calendars, plannings crap. You can also achieve goals in an much more organic matter, just by finding your purpose in your soul which is by far the most prevalent thing of your being that will run all of your actions. Much more than logic and calendars. Yours truly, a computer engineer.

12:29 Cal always says the daily habits should be tractable, but doesn't he really mean trackable?
@sophisticatedserpent15128 ай бұрын
Probably not, tractable means something is easy to do, deal with, or control. So probably means that you should set up your life so that there is very little resistance stopping you from doing your habits. Like if you need to go to the gym in the morning, then prepare all your gym clothes the day before, or maybe even go to sleep in your gym clothes so all you need to do in the morning is take your gym bag (which is already packed) and put on your workout shoes. Obviously though it's easy to talk about, harder to implement. But that's what I think, who knows what he's thinking about.
