I really didn’t mind the hype after the first game but then after the 2nd and 3rd game I saw people saying that this was the most unprecedented thing to ever happen in college football history and every time I pointed out how he literally had a new team only 1 returning starter on the whole team I was called a hater and that’s the only argument I was ever faced with but it’s even more infuriating to see those narratives after last season when Tulane came from a 2-10 season and last year went 12-2 knocking out usc in the cotton bowl without an entire new team

I never liked Deion from the moment he was hired with how he was forcing literally an entire team's worth of COLLEGE STUDENTS to get the hell out of dodge to make way for his precious sons and their friends (which comes off as nepotism to me and idk always just rubbed me the wrong way) and normally a first year coach bringing a 3 game win increase is fine enough but the way the whole team acted about it with the bling and the egos and making it seem all about the image versus being there for your team/each other always pissed me off so I'm glad it all came crashing down. As a UW fan who has seen a lot of horrible Husky teams, I empathise with colorado, I really do, but media bias really is crazy with giving Deion sportsman of the year when so many first year coaches have turned their teams around with 6-8 win increases - I mean Kalen Deboer turned a 4-8 team into a 10-2 team in his first year with UW but where was the media then??? It's all so biased and stinky in my opinion, I would much rather root for a humble team and system that cares about their guys and about winning no matter the cost than whatever social media content farming circus Colorado has going on, and I wish them success if Deion perhaps takes some humbling from this and I don't have Colorado content shoved down my face every three seconds but man, I dunno... as they are now, Colorado are a very easy team to hate.

It's clear that's what he's doing. He's a promoter/salesman, not a coach. He goes back on his word often. He used the HBCU to make Shadeur look better than he is, while saying he wants to uplift it back to prominence. Now look how much coverage they get....? And who was covered when he was there. Ask yourself did any of the coverage talk about any of the teams or coaches beside Deon and JSU....? Nope...Then he got many to look at Colorado during the easier part of every teams schedule. Which is the first 4-5 weeks. Yes all teams even with decent non conference match ups have the easy shceduls early it's so the elite teams can ease into seasons more times than not or show how close they are to each other's level when looking back on the season(look at Texas and Bama and how Colorado and TCu ended up at...) Never focus on preseason rankings, outside of the usual actual powerhouse 5 to 6 teams that are always in the CFP conversation.

They lost to Stanford because they were outcoached in the 2nd half. You don't go up 29-0 because of a "horrible o line and defense." In fact, Deion throwing his guys under the bus in the media is likely a big reason for their collapse. He didn't take accountability and decided to go to the media questioning his players' hearts.

Yeah, people had crazy expectations for this season and it was dumb. It was annoying that the media's favorite team became Colorado but you figured it would die down. And the whole season came crashing down. Oregon's coach really did nail it with that speech. However, what all of this did was set the stage. Big time recruits will now be coming to play for Sanders and he will likely build that team into a respectable one, if not a contender. So, all the hype had a purpose. Maybe not for that first season, but for the future of the program. Not a Colorado fan and not a Sanders fan, but they'll build a solid program there....as long as Sanders decides to stick around and not take an NFL job in couple of years.

@@juman9696 there's no problem with his argument. It's plain and simple: even if he had success with Colorado with a totally different roster, at the end that should also have to be considered when evaluating the job he's done. Maybe it wouldn't take all the merit from it, but it's definitely an important context to add, specially considering all the narraive that's been built by media. There's no doubt it's harder to motivate a group of players that went 1-11 in the previous season, than a brand new group of guys.

The extent of his coaching seems to be getting better players, not actually making players better. When asked how he is going to address the weakness in his OL he said “get better players”. That is a remarkable answer. He brought in those players, and he doesn’t seem to take any responsibility for their development. There is a major cap on the success level of a coach who doesn’t make players better. He brought in better players than they had last year and he got 4 wins for it. But he doesn’t seem to know how to develop anyone. I find it hard to believe the win totals will keep going up.

This is a poor take. I know from experience that preseason rankings are not worth the paper on which they are written. WVU happened to be better than expected - great. CU's football program has been dormant for decades, and spent many of those years as the doormat of the Pac-12 - including this year. CU beat 3 Power 5 schools, none of which finished in the bottom of their respective conferences, including a solid near blowout win against rival Nebraska. This is a sign of a rebirth of a program that WVU has been fortunate to not need. CU mightily underperformed my expectations in conference; after the hot start, I strongly believed 3 conference wins and a bowl berth was a feasible goal. But the fact remains that personnel and coach recruiting has jumped leaps and bounds beyond what it was prior to Coach Prime's introduction as head coach.

Nebraska was first to expose CU, Jeff Sims just made the defense quit by the 2nd half. CU wasn't getting anywhere for a large part of the game but Sims kept giving them unbelievable field position 4 times in one game. Anyone who actually saw that game or simply looked at the 8 sacks Sheduer took, they'd know something was up. In short: fire Marcus Satterfield

UC had very close and respectable fights against stanford, oregon, utah and usc. Sanders was one of the best defensive players of all time and was an elite MLB player, in the same season. He took a helicopter from NFL games to drop into the middle of MLB games. There isn't a person in the world like him. He's a legendary athlete and he stands in the .00001% of professional athletes and Olympians. In college he played three sports. He'd go from football, to baseball to track. And he was elite at all of them. Anyone who downplays him, his achievements and the revival of UC football is jealous. And nothing is uglier and more despicable than a jealous person. Nothing.
@grondhero
@grondhero 11 ай бұрын
You don't know what you're talking about. To begin with, it's CU, not UC. _The CU is even on their helmets._ Second, *losing 42-6,* they were smashed by Oregon; it wasn't a "respectable fight." They were whipped by USC 34-14 in the first half. Third, Sanders was - at best - an average MLB player; he wasn't close to being elite, much less legendary. Bo Jackson was legendary in both. Huge difference. Deion taking a helicopter from NFL to MLB has nothing to do with this skills/talents, just hype and probably narcissism, if not simply convenience. You seem to be putting that in there for your fanboyism. His NFL career as an athlete does nothing for his _coaching_ ability; two different things. Anyone with common sense knows "elite athlete =/= elite coach." You can be great at one and bad at the other. Deion Sanders is all about Deion Sanders. His ego over-hyped his movement from an HBC to a P5 FBS program. He barely won vs TCU; and that's because the NCAA gifted him by not calling any penalties on CU in the first half. The same thing happened in the Nebraska game - no penalties called on CU in the first half. It took double overtime to beat CSU. Deion Sanders' problem is Deion Sanders' ego. He's never learned humility (aside from one moment admitting Bo Jackson bested him) and is very petty ("keeping receipts"). Joel Klatt, a former CU QB) interviewed Sanders and asked him for his _reasonable_ expectations for his first year as the CU head coach. Sanders replied 15-0. Klatt tried to get Sanders to face reality and Sanders wouldn't budge. He insisted they were going to win the Natty. Your simping or fawning for Sanders doesn't mean other people are jealous. We're all quite aware of how arrogant Sanders has been his entire career.

The most off-putting thing about this season for me was Deion bitching about the lack of security after his son's bling got stolen from the locker room. It's a locker room, not a bank vault. STFU about security. If you can afford it, you can afford to insure and/or secure it. If you didn't, then you were too dumb to have it.

Holy shit ppl are insane about Deion and Colorado. CU has won jack shit for 20 years in a worse conference. The first two wins were more of a success than anyone at CU hoped for this year. The man was also dealing with a gruesome leg and toe surgery and almost lost his foot during this season. Let’s see other coaches move to a new conference with only a couple years experience while dealing with a life threatening injury/ potential amputation. Short of winning a National championship ppl would have hated on them. No one seems to understand how ridiculous it is they beat TCU and Nebraska. On top of all of this Boulder has a very small black population and he has done so much to help them feel more at home by helping the university celebrate black culture. They have achieved so much already and anyone who thinks otherwise just wants to hate them. Also, the board and admins at CU are beyond ecstatic with the results so far, he’s not going anywhere and for CU this has been the most successful season in decades. CU has never been that competitive after coach Mac and ppl act like they were a powerhouse lol.

Confidence comes from past success. D. Sanders had no, zero, nada experience of play in a Power 5 Conference but proclaimed wide and far of his ability to so. Some call it swagger, others call it arrogance. I go with arrogance which is the belief in abilities without evidence or a rudtimentary indicator of the ability to perform. The PAC-12 is brutal conference for the arrogant. And please spare me the sanctimonious spewings of just "being" a hater. Bragadociousness is an unwholesome activity that generateds disgust, the highest level being hate. Sanders earned every inch of this emotion which he intentionally stirred in every knowledgable college football fan.
