Hi mate, nice video. One minor point, the High temp wax you're using won't last if the stuff it's sitting ontop of isn't as sturdy, bit of IPA on the painted surfaces to clean them of dressing and it'll work just like you're hoping.
@MySupercarLife4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I was rushing when I made this video and didn't think. But yes, the wax is better on a bare surface. My mistake.

Nice job and what an engine. It would have been better to apply the Finish Care first to a clean surface as it would bond better and last longer. It won't bond as well on the PERL with its silicone dioxide content.
@MySupercarLife7 жыл бұрын
It's nice to work have a real engine, rather than a plastic cover that seems all the rage these days! Good point, I never thought of that. But yes, the Finish Kare would bond better without the PERL in the way, thanks for pointing that out, I was in a bit of a rush making this second half of the vid. Thanks for commenting!

forensic detailing has done a decent review on this and he likes it, me i tend to use autosmart finish used neat after i clean mine and spray shed loads and just leave to dry....first time i did it i thought i'd may be dropped one...then when i'd given it chance to dry ...i was happy...lol
@MySupercarLife7 жыл бұрын
Cool, haven't watched many of his vids, I don't have the attention span LOL, but I can agree that the PERL is fantastic. I'm planning a review soon as I don't do many, but need to start. The Autosmart finish sounds very similar to the PERL. I sprayed it everywhere and I was worried that it wouldn't dry properly and streak, or dry white, but it dries to a great natural sheen. I would recommend that when you've use the Autosmart to get this and give it a try to see how it compares. The PERL is £10.99 for 500ml or £16.99 for a litre which I didn't think was too bad since it dilutes to different strengths. Can you dilute the Autosmart Finish, or do you have to use it neat. Thanks for commenting
@richardkkirk7 жыл бұрын
yes mate you can dilute it down up to 5-1 i think, i only ever use it in the engine bay, it's water based although it does contain silicon,i paid about 23 quid for 5 litres when i bought it ...i know the pearl is supposed to be good and in the near future i will treat myself to a bottle, but i have so much gear i can't afford to order anything yet..i would find it bad for my health....our lass would go ape shit..lol....i always use it neat in the bay...funny i've never tried it as a tyre dressing .....or inside for that matter.....

As noted below the PERL has recently been recommended by one of your peers so having bought the product my confidence is further increased. I have not seen Finish Kare before so thanks for that one. Just to be sure, as its not on the video, did you use the Finish Kare for the drainage channels in the engine bay as mine haven't cleaned up perfectly with the products used to date. Many thanks as always. Steven

Cheers. I've just had a flick through his vid, but hadn't seen it before. I don't generally watch detailing vids, that way I don't get influenced, whether consciously or subconsciously to make similar content, but there's always going to be cross overs with great products, I do watch AmmoNYC though, but I mainly watch Retro Gaming and 3D Printers are my new obsession :) . The Finish Kare is really good. I used PERL on the side panel when I removed them, but I know what to mean. The rain gutters on mine are a rough finish, like overspray. I don't think the man who paints them thinks they're important. I didn't use the wax there, but I will now you've drawn my attention to it, and I don't think it's a bad idea, although I've never had water sitting in them and the do actually seem to do their job properly.
@brownie36027 жыл бұрын
Never worry about cross over. Its good for us that a good product is recommended by a few of you. I have only had the problem when washing the car and water drips on them through the engine vents and I am using water through a softener! I'll try both when I next do an engine clean as they can only improve the previous product used.

I like the idea to do some dilution, so the product will last longer
@MySupercarLife6 жыл бұрын
I always prefer products you can dilute. You can make more product, and different strengths for different applications too :-)

Why did you put carpro pearl on the painted parts if you are going to put wax on them? Will this not affect the longevity of the finish?
@MySupercarLife4 жыл бұрын
You are right and well spotted 👍 . It would be best to wax first, then use the Perl

I'm wondering how long did it last? and will it go away if I use an apc or do a wipe down with a interior detailer?
@MySupercarLife3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it will go if you use and APC. I find varying results. On a car like this that I didn't use much it lasted for ages, but on my other car it seems to have not lasted long, but works for that 'just cleaned' look
@kykypenn3 жыл бұрын

This is the second time l your video, you mentioned and showed us that a pipe connecting to air filter was loose and that could be causing a whistle o whistling noise, has it cured? Thank you

It turned out to be a sticking clutch release bearing that managed to burn out a clutch with 80% life left in 800 miles. I ended up with a gearbox fault, which then turned in to having the clutch, flywheel, and some other parts replaced, then 2 days later the rear main seal started leaking so it all had to come back out again (luckily the seal was done under warranty). It turned out to be a very expensive problem that was never picked up when the car went in for a service a couple of months before. I sold the car not long after this.

Are foam applicator pads ok to use on paint? Because some wax that I bought today came with one and I am abit reluctant to use it in case it is too abrasive.
@MySupercarLife7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting. They vary MASSIVELY in quality. You can get cheap ones from China that are good for applying rubber dressings to tyres and plastics and nothing else. Then you can go to the other end of the scale where you have pads like the Chemical Guys UFO (I use this in my wax video with the Pete's '53) and the Meguiars ones. You can tell the difference as the high quality feel really soft, whereas the cheaper ones feel quite rough. If you're unsure get a Chemical Guys UFO, I've never had one cause a problem, they are cheap and you can wash them in the washing machine. I've had the same one for about 2 years, it's been washed loads and it's still perfect. Hope this helps!

What ratio should I use perl on external rubber and plastics just to make them look new
@MySupercarLife7 жыл бұрын
Either 1:3 or lower. You can use it neat if you wish. I used 1:3 in my bumper intakes and it worked well but I haven't tried it on a rough plastic type trim yet.

You don't have a garage but you have a expensive car?
@MySupercarLife4 жыл бұрын
I have a single car garage, but a Ferrari is too wide to get it in and then open the door to get out. Plus my garage is at the back of my house so my driveway is between 2 houses and it wasn't worth risking damaging the car to get it in the garage.
