Another good few are: -grit guard for your rinse bucket cheap and great for separation of dirt from water. -do a rinse>soap foam>rinse>soap foam then use microfiber mitt. Greatly reduced the amiutn of dirt and grit before using your mitt -90/10 alcohol is the best thing to use for removing sap. -always wash car on coolest part of day or atleast while it is cloudy. If your water is as hard as mine then you know how bad water spots suck -find a good after wash rinse (I use chem guys after shine) I use a separate spray foamer for just this after I wash it no need to rinse just spray and dry. It's basically the same thing used at car washes that call it a spot free rinse. It works wonders.

This was extremely helpful, funny, entertaining & informative!! Also here are some notes I made for this vid which I will be definitely using: Interior Remove front Seats (and centre console) To have more place to clean Get a vacuum and vacuum the whole interior Clean the floor/carpet of the car (turtle wax or any carpet cleaner) Don’t go overboard cause the foam padding behind the carpet will soak and mold, which result to smelling really bad Clean the whole interior (turtle wax is good for all types, or get different cleaner accordingly. Ex. Leather cleaner) Clean all the plastic interior (Turtle wax or soapy water works well) Clean Seatbelts Use toothbrush to clean controls (turn signal and headlight signals) Dress all your vinyls, leathers and plastic. This brings all those faded materials back to life Put seats back in, make sure everything is dried off and move onto engine bay Engine Bay Disconnect Engine Bay completely Make sure all covers and fluid caps are completely closed Ex. Oil dipstick, coolant, windshield washer, Engine Oil cover Cover the engine itself with plastic bags or tarp. Since you are about to clean the hood underside and hose the whole bay down Put Degreaser everywhere it is dirty, underside of hood and in engine bay Scrub all places that are dirty with degreaser Then rinse it all off with a garden hose or a pressure washer without so much pressure Do not spray any electrical components directly Spray Degreaser, scrub off dirt, then rinse. Do this step a couple of times Take bag off engine itself since you are going to clean that now Spray degreaser, scrub off dirt, rinse off with a damp towel. Finishing touch: Dress up all plastics, Painted metals and covered wires. Exterior Note: Tree Sap and bird poop can harm/ruin your paint, by getting rid of it Wheel and Tires Use the same wash liquid as you do for the whole car but with a different brush and bucket Soap it up and scrub Then rinse it off with water. Do this for each tire Body Throw or pressure wash soapy water all over your car quickly to lift off all the dirt and grime Then get two different buckets One with soapy water to clean the car One to rinse off the car USE terry cotton mitts to clean your car since they hold the dirt deeper (9:06) BUT best to use is the MICROFIBRE DREADLOCK HAND MITTS So now get your soapy water bucket and work top to bottom Clean the hood, roof and trunk first Now rinse off the top (w/ water hose) Second part, wash the moldings of the car all the way around (Top half of the doors and fenders and etc) Then rinse it all off (w/ water hose) Now wash the bottom half of the car (bumpers, skirts, bottom door, etc) Now Rinse it all off (w/ water or hose) Claybar Note: Claybar cleans and gets rid of all the dirt and gunk embedded in the paint Dry off the spots you don’t need to claybar like the glass so you don’t get water marks on them using a large microfibre Get your clybar and clay bar lubricant, spray the lube then scrub with claybar Use a nice, light pressure Time consuming, since you have to do the whole car You will feel the whole car smoothing up, the more passes you make. Waxing You need Paste wax and an applicator Put it onto the surface with a light pressure in circles throughout the whole car If you get it on plastic trim, wipe it off right away with a damp towel because it will stain the trim and it is very hard to get it off Once the whole car is waxed and dried, buff it off with a clean microfibre Finishing Touches Use the dressing for all the rubbers, plastics and tires around the car Use glass cleaners to clean all your Windows Step back and admire your work

@mr.cuttystabby53314 жыл бұрын
it's not the claybar leaving the scratches, it's from the dirt it picks up. You should mold your claybar every few minutes to try and prevent as many scratches as possible.

Synthetic clay pads are better to use if you are not paint correcting afterwards. The clay bar shown in the video can be used but is generally a little more aggressive. Also waxing should be done in straight lines instead of circles like we've been taught. Circular scratches are easier for light to catch and to be seen. Using straight lines limits the edges to help avoid fine scratches being seen. The car may be as clean as possible but without every precaution taken still expect small scratches in the clear.

I remember watching videos of Zach teaching me how to change turbos on my 135i. Now that's gone and I'm watching him again on how to build a Z and project tips and tricks. Crazy.

When applying wax I wouldn’t go in circles, I’d go in straight lines. Just cuz it’s clean doesn’t mean you can’t scratch the paint and if you do, straight line micro scratches are harder to see then circles.
@ethanstigler26604 жыл бұрын
But with wax you want to get it into every area of the paint and if you have micro scratches the wax will fill them. Waxing in straight lines won’t allow the wax to fill those micro scratches.

When you get to that top replacement vid just know you’ll need 3/16 medium rivets to put a new top on the frame and a couple beers to calm you down because that’s hands down the worst part of a Miata

4 parts water/1 part regular woolite is what many pro detailers use to clean leather seats. I REALLY love 3M leather & vinyl cleaner. Not only does to clean seats, if you wipe with a rag on dashboard plastic parts it gives it a nice deep clean matte shine and doesn’t collect dust. And Chemical Guys paint sealant is pretty great too.

Just a tip whether you want to use it or not, tire shine works great on black plastics under the hood, and it keeps it looking nice for a real long time! Have run into absolutely zero issues with this over the years and on many different cars!
@christopherpape4823 Жыл бұрын
Can you use tire shine for your interior plastics too?
@dhag72 Жыл бұрын
@@christopherpape4823 overall yes. Our detailer at work (whom I would cover for if he was gone or I didnt have a customers car on the hoist at the moment I'd help him) showed me that actually. He would spray the tires and under hood plastics. For the interior he would spray it on a rag then wipe it on hard plastics ONLY. Q tips work great for vents if you really want to get in there. For cleaning the dust first, a toothbrush or baby bottle brush are both great options, just be sure they're soft bristles!

@@dhag72 appreciate the tips! I just picked up a 2017 civic si recently and I've been trying to do my research on how to properly maintain it and keep it looking its best haha

This series makes me wanna have a Miata just because it all seems so simple. I’m imagining what if have to do for even something simple like this in my car and a drop top Miata is so incredibly easy compared to a Station Wagon

I work as a detailer/wash-boy at a collision repair shop. We use don't do that intense of wash. However for my personal car I'd definitely try the more detailed external wash. Especially the clay bar because I deal with birds, tree sap, and the like.
