Please explain what physical change is necessary to increase the current (amps) in the secondary coil to to reach 50 KVA? Is it THICKER gauge wire in the secondary coil?

I totally understand the math. The transformer outside our houses reads 16KVA. MEANING each line L-1 and L-2 can carry 66.6 amps. 8,000 KVA (one half the total rating) divided by the known voltage of 120 equals 66.6 Amps. Doing the math for all 240 volt loads works the same 16,000 KVA divided by known voltage of 240 equals 66.6 amps at 240 volts. Thank you for this tutorial. P.S. What physical characteristics do we change to INCREASE the KVA of our step down transformer?

Question please. Power company says each of our three phases are 16,000 volts. Question is how many of the mentioned 50KVA single phase step down transformers can safely be connected to ONE of the mentioned 16,000 volt lines? What is the formula for determining this answer?

So for the 480vAC 3-phase panel that is feeding the step-down transformer into the 120/240vAC 1P side, a 100 or 110 amp breaker would be required to feed the 50kVA?

Interesting that 83.3 amps are drawn from BOTH sides of the split phase step down transformer.

Glad it was helpful! I find that most of these concepts are simple or can at least be broken into simple portions. People over complicate things
