@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
Me too I normally do my dethatching, aerating and overseeding in the fall myself but I missed out last fall so I had to get it done my thatch layer was too thick to let it go until this fall. My forecast ahead looks pretty good I hope mother nature doesn't throw a curve ball in there lol

Hey Darryl was waiting for your videos... yes i have to thatch myself. It's still looking a ton better than previously. Yes i need to seed... I'll wait a few weeks normally Easter then I kinda doesn't get cold again... i love my Sun Joe. Here's a tip use your lawn mover to pull the thatch up.
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
How's everything going I hope all is well I definitely understand waiting because this weather is very unpredictable here up north we got snow this past Monday so I'm glad I didn't seed earlier but I definitely started dethatching and preparing the yard a few weeks ago.

Numbers seem backward on it. Wouldnt dropping the height adjustment all the way to bottom lift the unit further off the ground, or is it adjusting the roller underneath and not the entire unit? If the highest setting is indeed at the top where have it, then labeling them as negative is backward thinking. Negative numbers are lower than positive ones haha. Like the video btw, got one of these in the mail and cant wait to use it.

Awsome video I just bought me a machine and I have lots of runners in my yard, should I use the blades frist? Never done this before.
@LawnAmateur10 ай бұрын
No you don't have to use the blades first you can use the tines. The tines will pull up all that dead material very easily. Just test out the different settings depth to see which one fits your liking on a small part of the yard first before doing the whole yard.

would doing a low cut and bag before dethaching help?
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
Most definitely cut your lawn lower and bag the clippings before dethatching. It definitely helps with the dethatching process

I will need to overseed my backyard, my weather is slightly colder than yours, from southern Indiana, next week temps will be 50s,60’s, a couple days in low 70’s but next weekend will have four days with lows in mid 30’s, my question, should I wait or overseed now?
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
Me personally I would go for it. I've overseeded with temps mid 50s during the day and lows of 30s at night and never had any issues. As long as there is no snow popping up you should be ok.
@jacklavoie25232 жыл бұрын

When do you think is optimal time in the spring to re-seed turf type tall fescue lawn in CT/northeast USA?
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
I live in CT myself and I just put my Turf Type Tall Fescue seed down April 2nd. I'm confident that the weather from this point forward will be ok. No more surprising snow like last Monday 😡. 🤣🤣 I hope this helped

When do you start using the humic acid like you did last year? How often do you apply it?
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
Around Early May I'll do the first application. Then maybe once a month if you want to get aggressive with the applications if your soil is in bad shape
@SeahawkAz6 ай бұрын
Looks to be good for my 80 k sq ft

I was just wondering what fertilizer do you use and how often do you fertilize? I enjoy your videos man!
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
Thank you I go back and forth between scotts and milorganite throughout the season
@musicfame2 жыл бұрын
@@LawnAmateur yea I generally use milorganite as well because I want to be organic. But I feel like my lawn is missing something so I might alternate as well with organic and synthetic fertilizers. I use humic acid every month as well
@1WilliamsBrian2 жыл бұрын
Do a soil test....it will tell you exactly what you need or don't need. They are pretty easy and not too expensive
@LawnAmateur2 жыл бұрын
@@musicfame you could be missing potassium if you're only using milorganite because milorganite does have potassium in it. But like the comment above said you could definitely get a soil test to find out what's missing.
