You can either go to an auto parts store like auto zone or pep boys and ask them to clear your codes. Or you can purchase a cheap code reader and reset it yourself.

If you can get a scanner hooked up to the computer, it might tell you a code. There could be codes in the computer with out having the check engine light on. But only way to know is to scan for any codes in your computer. Also, just as a suggestion, it could be your alternator acting up. You can check this by disconnecting the battery while the car is idling. If the car wants to shut off or actually shuts off, then the alternator is bad. Hope this helps. Please keep me posted

So how did you get the lights to go out? Did you disconnect the battery for a period of time?

Yes you can disconnect the battery over night or reset the computer with the OBD 2. If you don’t have one you can go to an auto parts store and have them reset it for you

I’ve got a Cylinder number two miss fire i was with a friend and I just said for the he’ll of it read to see if there’s any coils as I had a code for Air system insignificant flow bank one which I don’t know how to fix that and said I had a cylinder number two miss fire I’m hoping it’s just the coils and spark plugs because since I bought the car I haven’t got new ones and I’ve had my 2014 vw cc 2.0T sport in red for only 8 months which is Cylinder two the second from the oil cap side ?

Hi, I have Passat cc 2013 TDI, automatic gearbox, the issue is- when the engine is running I hear a sound in the engine kind a little vibration or probably engine’s cover shaking, but once I put my foot on the accelerator the sound goes away immediately, also today when I parked the car on a (P) gear the engine shut down by itself, and that all happened after I floored the gas pedal on the high way. Hope you can give some advices about why this is happening. Thank you
@chillymooose3 жыл бұрын
Marwan Adam, there can be many things going on... but off the top of my head, it looks like you may have blown a head gasket. A couple of questions I have is... is the check engine light on? If so, what’s the code? Is there a loss of power during acceleration? Let me know. And thanks for the question
@marwanadam60603 жыл бұрын
@@chillymooose thanks for your reply, there’s no check engine light on neither a loose of power during acceleration, the little engine vibration goes also away when I shift the gear from P to R,N,D, so that happens only when the car is stopped, kind a rough idling of engine, jerking and once I push the gas paddle the sound/vibration goes away. I doubt is the coils and sparks plugs causing this idling? Or should the check engine light shows in the dashboard in that case?
@chillymooose3 жыл бұрын
Oh ok, sounds to me like you have a very slight vacuum leak. This is common in the VW’s. I would check PCV valve. You can also search “VW rough idle” here on KZbin.
@briancardenas73523 жыл бұрын
Did check engine get removed over time or how can u remove it?
@chillymooose3 жыл бұрын
It will go away over time Or you can erase the code if you have a code reader. Some cars you can disconnect the battery overnight and it will erase the code from the dashboard but never tried it with the VW because i have a code reader.

The VW is a nice fun car that gives great gas mileage. Unfortunately the turbo is very high maintenance. The engine compression is so high that engine oil would make its way into the turbo. If you don’t mind all the maintenance on the turbo its a great car. I just didn’t have time for all of that. Thanks for the comment and hope this helps.
@joshuatoe23232 жыл бұрын
@@chillymooose thanks for your response…that lines up with what I’ve found especially with oil consumption, timing chain issues, and carbon build up. So would you say that the optima is a better option then, still offering some fun but not with the high maintenance costs and time?

@@joshuatoe2323 absolutely, slightly less gas mileage but the low maintenance definitely makes up for it. I have about 120k miles on the optima and it still runs as if it just rolled off the lot.

On my European cars all German with the exception of 3 Saab's and 2 Volvo's, I NEVER use aftermarket parts as I'd rather pay more for the accurate OEM parts to ensure no problems with the car. Was that coil an OEM Volkswagon coil that you bought on Amazon or was it Chinese made aftermarket? Loved the train horn in the background!

@@chillymooose Thanks for your response. I've got another question for you, what's the best/least expensive way to address the carbon buildup on those 2.0 TSI engines as the dealer (in my area) wants $2,700 to clean out the carbon buildup. I'm getting a 2010 CC in January (haven't had a German car since 2010) and I'm not looking forward to going back to buying 93 Octane gas and the potential maintenance headaches with said German cars, it'll be my 5th VW and 7th VW product (I've had two Audi's) so I'm a bit concerned as at my age, all that I want is trouble-free car ownership (I should be getting a Toyota or Honda instead lol). Thanks for the informative video.

@mark i am not to familiar with any procedures where you can clean the internals of the valve assembly inside the head. I have seen some advertised head flush procedures at the local jiffy lube and places like that but i have never opened up a head assembly and verified the results of said head flush. Only way i know of is the old fashion way, of taking the head / valve assembly apart and hand cleaning them. Hope this helps. And thanks for the support on the channel. Good luck with the CC. Good day chilly, so my car misfires, exactly same as this in the video. Sometimes it drives good & sometimes, gives the warning sound the moment it starts misfiring. So i have couple of questions, how do i determine if it is the coil or plug that is causing it ? Secondly, how long do i drive it for in it's current condition before it becomes really bad news for me?
@chillymooose4 жыл бұрын
Max O. Perform the coil check procedure as i have shown in the video. With the car on, unplug each coil one by one. If there is no change in the rpm dropping, then that is your bad coil. I would not drive it like this too long. Because you can risk damaging the cylinder. It might be a good idea to change all the spark plugs. These are not too expensive and will help in diagnosing if the problem is actually the coil or the spark plug. Let me know if this helps. Good luck
@maxo.10624 жыл бұрын
So, i unplugged i did check the coils exactly as shown in your video & it turned out each coil caused change in the rpm dropping. For that reason, i came to a conclusion that it isnt the coils so i entirely unplugged everything & checked one of the spark plugs & screwed it back in, blew out dirts in each of the coil holes then replugged them. For like 4 days straight ever since, i havent seen recurrence of the engine so far & no signs of misfiring but then i dont wanna be entirely comfortable as i still look to clean the entire spark plugs & if i may ask, what cleaning agent for plugs do you thing i should get for that purpose? Thanks a million
