How to diagnose and repair a P1105 and P0105 on a 1999 Nissan Maxima In this video I will show you how to diagnose and repair a P1105 ( MAP/BARO switch solenoid )and a P0105 (absolute pressure sensor) using just a vacume pump and a multi meter

For anyone wondering the map/baro switch is called the Vacuum Switch Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid Valve. For my 99 Maxima it’s part #14956-35U10. Hope this helps!

Good to see you emphasise the importance of "testing not guessing" and proving your diagnosis with the bench testing of components Jim. Many shade tree mechanics would replace parts unnecessarily based on DTC's. I really enjoy your electrical diagnostic videos - hopefully there will be more on the way!

Great vid. I have a question, why is there so many different names for the MAP sensor? IAT being one of them. Also I have code P1105 on my R56 mini but I don’t have this turbo solenoid as my mini isn’t turbocharged. I’ve just replaced the ‘MAP’ sensor (IAT) but didn’t do the tests you did, hopefully this fixes it. Thanks for your vid

Great Video How about a p0500 on a 99 pathfinder? Replaced VSS reset CE and came back on after 2trips. I don't have a wiring diagram and really hate to guess around. Thank you

Jim,I have watched the video couple time trying to understand the procedure, im little confused, you check for 5 volts reference then you back probe the connector with a pin, my question is ,you back probe in the wire that has the 5 volts references? My other question is ,on the baro/solenoid the polarity for the outers pins it matters ? I hope i make me understand better this time, thank you jim you are my hero, take care,

Hi Jim, Could you do an ohm meter check of the coil as a double check of the solenoid for those that do not have a power probe
@reweydewy
@reweydewy 7 жыл бұрын
Stan Skubis It's not a great test. you can ohm test but if the solenoid windings are good but and the valve is mechanicaly stuck you will still get a good ohm reading. You can always take long wires right off the cars battery. best to use a fused wire for one of the wires.. that's basically all this older power probe is doing

Thanks for the video Jim! Question: I don't have access to a vacuum pump, but I'm assuming that the signal voltage should get lower as I apply throttle?

Voltage should drop when applying vacuum pressure. Release the pressure and the voltage should return to normal. Hope that helps

Quick question, I have a P0105 code only and it says it's the MAP sensor. I replaced it cleared the code but it came back on. Should I try the solenoid next? I tested all the power and the vacuum line is OK. Thanks for any help. It's on this car as well

@@youtubescrap bro I never got it fixed. The shop wanted $1000 to fix it. They said it's safe to drive so I did then sold it.
